[PATCH] initcall: break loop immediately on failure

The current ordering always results in func pointing to the next function in the init_sequence. e.g. if fdtdec_setup() fails, ret will be set to the error code, then func will be updated to point to initf_malloc(), only then is ret checked and the loop broken. The end result of this is that the "initcall failed at ..." error will point you to initf_malloc(), when the error actually occured in fdtdec_setup()! This can be quite confusing and result in a lot of time wasted debugging code that has nothing to do with the failure (ask me how I know :P). Adjust the for loop to check ret immediately after the call and break early so that func will correctly reference the failed function. The error message Adding disk for usb_mass_storage.lun0 failed (err=-9223372036854775788/0x8000000000000014) provides a decimal and a hexadecimal notation of the EFI status code EFI_ALREADY_STARTED which is defined as (EFI_ERROR_MASK | 20). The decimal output does not convey the value 20 clearly. With the patch we write Adding block device usb_mass_storage.lun0 failed, r = 20 similar to other EFI error messages. [PATCH v2 00/21] FWU: Migrate FWU metadata to version 2

The following patches migrate the FWU metadata access code to version 2 of the structure. This is based on the structure definition as defined in the latest rev of the FWU Multi Bank Update specification [1]. Since the version 1 of the structure has currently been adopted on a couple of platforms, it was decided to have a clean migration of the metadata to version 2 only, instead of supporting both the versions of the structure. Also, based on consultations with the main author of the specification, it is expected that any further changes in the structure would be minor tweaks, and not be significant. Hence a migration to version 2. Similar migration is also being done in TF-A, including migrating the ST platform port to support version 2 of the metadata structure [2]. @Michal, I tested the metadata for the two image per bank case, and it works fine on the ST board. How To Move Root Partition From eMMC to SSD

I am running the NanoPi R6C. The device is not capable of booting from the SSD, the next best thing is to load the root filesystem from the SSD. Using rockchip's repos, I compile from source the images to boot 1) from the microSD card and 2) from eMMC. I install to the eMMC. Then, so as not to mount any partitions from eMMC, I boot from the microSD card, and I clone the root partition from the eMMC (/dev/mmcblk2p8) to the SSD (/dev/nvme0n1p1). "bootrkp" ignores "bootargs", I confirm this by deleting "bootargs" before running "bootrkp", the system boots up as before with no change in behavior. "bootrkp" is implemented in file "cmd/bootrkp.c". That code emits the equivalent of: setenv bootm-no-reloc y booti 0x400000 0xa200000:0x7b2bc0 0x8300000 Can I tell U-Boot to load the root partition from /dev/nvme0n1p1, either by entering commands at the monitor, or by modifying the source code of U-Boot, or through any other means? Additional testing of the changes introduced in commit 33e06dcbe57a "common: usb-hub: Reset hub port before scanning") revealed that some USB 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives didn't work in U-Boot on some Allwinner SoCs that support USB 2.0 interfaces only. More precisely, some of the tested USB 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives failed to be detected and work on an OrangePi Zero 3, based on the Allwinner H616 SoC that supports USB 2.0 only, while the same USB flash drives worked just fine on a Pine64 H64, based on the Allwinner H6 SoC that supports both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 interfaces. The USB ID of the above-mentioned USB 3.0 flash drive that failed to work is 1f75:0917 (Innostor Technology Corporation IS917 Mass storage), it is 32 GB in size and sold under the PNY brand. The mentioned USB 2.0 drive is some inexpensive no-name drive with an invalid USB ID. Resetting USB 3.0 hubs only, which this patch introduces to the USB hub resets, has been tested to work as expected, resolving the identified issues on the Allwinner H616, while not introducing any new issues on other tested Allwinner SoCs. Thus, let's fix it that way. According to the USB 3.0 specification, resetting a USB 3.0 port is required when an attached USB device transitions between different states, such as when it resumes from suspend. Though, the Linux kernel performs additional USB 3.0 port resets upon initial USB device attachment, as visible in commit 07194ab7be63 ("USB: Reset USB 3.0 devices on (re)discovery") in the kernel source, to ensure proper state of the USB 3.0 hub port and proper USB mode negotiation during the initial USB device attachment and enumeration. These additional types of USB port resets don't exist for USB 2.0 hubs, according the USB 2.0 specification. The resets seem to be added to the USB 3.0 specification as part of the port and device mode negotiation. The Linux kernel resets USB 3.0 (i.e. SuperSpeed) hubs only, as visible in commit 10d674a82e55 ("USB: When hot reset for USB3 fails, try warm reset.") in the kernel source. The check for SuperSpeed hubs is performed in a way that also applies to newer SuperSpeed Plus (USB 3.1 or 3.2) hubs as well, which hopefully makes it future proof. In udma_probe() the return value of setup_resources() is stored in the u32 "ch_count" member of "struct udma_dev", due to which any negative return value which indicates an error is masked. Fix this by storing the return value of setup_resources() in the already declared integer variable "ret", followed by assigning it to the "ch_count" member of "struct udma_dev" in case of no error. While at it, change the "return ret" at the end of udma_probe() to a "return 0", to explicitly indicate that probe was successful. This patch series extends the support for the Renesas RZ/G2L SMARC EVK board (based on the R9A07G044L2 SoC) to include the following new features: * I2C bus support, including automatic deblocking if SDA is stuck low due to another device on the board. * Basic PMIC support, with the ability to read, write & dump PMIC registers. * Support for requesting system reset (SYSRESET_COLD or SYSRESET_POWER) via the PMIC. Along the way we fix the CPG driver to confirm all clock & reset changes before returning, and update the device tree to align with Linux 6.6.
