[BUG] RockPro64 not booting since 3ae64582fb

Hi U-boot developers, I'm booting RockPro64 by writing compiled u-boot-rockchip.bin to SD card offset 64 as described in doc/board/rockchip/rockchip.rst. There is a USB flash drive plugged into USB2 port containing ext4 filesystem with extlinux/exlinux.conf and a kernel+initrd images. This setup boots fine on 02ce99ec91 but not on the next 3ae64582fb. It gets stuck on "Booting using the fdt blob at 0x1f000000". Let me know if I can help debug this. I have a "daily driver" RockPro64 v2.1, can pull from git repos/branches or apply patches to source tree - whichever you prefer. Best regards, Aleksei, U-boot user

[PATCH v4 0/3] spi: spi_flash_probe_bus_cs() rely on DT for spi speed and mode

Since commit e2e95e5e2542 ("spi: Update speed/mode on change") when calling "sf probe" or "env save" on SPI flash, spi_set_speed_mode() is called twice. spi_get_bus_and_cs() |--> spi_claim_bus() | |--> spi_set_speed_mode(speed and mode from DT) ... |--> spi_set_speed_mode(default speed and mode value) The first spi_set_speed_mode() call is done with speed and mode values from DT, whereas the second call is done with speed and mode set to default value (speed is set to CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_SPEED) This is an issue because SPI flash performance are impacted by using default speed which can be lower than the one defined in DT. One solution is to set CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_SPEED to the speed defined in DT, but we loose flexibility offered by DT. Another issue can be encountered with 2 SPI flashes using 2 different speeds. In this specific case usage of CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_SPEED is not flexible compared to get the 2 different speeds from DT. When using PXE, if no fdt is defined in the menu file, and there is no fdt at fdt_addr, add fall back on fdtcontroladdr too. We are developing board support for the Armv8r64 FVP using config_distro_bootcmd. We are also using OF_BOARD and would like the PXE boot option to default to the fdt provided by board_fdt_blob_setup. [PATCH 00/10] dm: Experiments for reducing SPL memory usage

This series explores using the (not yet applied) tag support in driver model to reduce memory usage in SPL. This is particularly important on 64-bit machines, which use a ridiculously large 8 bytes for each pointer into what what is sometimes only 64KB of available memory. The primary focus of this series is struct udevice, which can be shrunk in various ways: - Including devres_head only when DEVRES is enabled (i.e. not in SPL) - Using tags instead of pointers for attached data like plat_, priv_ and driver_data - Using singly linked lists, currently not supported in U-Boot - Using a table index for the driver pointer and uclass pointer Together these bring the size of struct udevice down from 0xa0 (160) bytes to 0x30 (48) bytes. Another option is to drop the device name, although this is a pain for debugging. It would also be possible to implement doubly linked lists with a 16-bit index into malloc space, in SPL, thus reducing the overhead in each node from 16 bytes to 2, or just using a fixed-size list for each data structure, since the number of items is quite limited in SPL. To implement the tag side of things, functions like dev_set_parent_priv() need to be modified to call dev_tag_set_ptr(), and dev_get_parent_priv() needs to call dev_tag_get_ptr(). Note there has been some previous work: - tiny-dm analysis[1] which we decided was too disruptive - build-time instantiation, to reduce SPL code size[2].
