Currently the omapl138_lcdk has SKIP_LOWLEVEL_INIT set. The README states there is a variation of this for the ARM926EJ-S which allows the board to just skip the call to lowlevel_init() and do the normal CP15 init which enables the instruction cache. On the da850evm, this was shown to improve startup time. This patch switches SKIP_LOWLEVEL_INIT to SKIP_LOWLEVEL_INIT_ONLY thus, enabling the cache. [PATCH 0/4] Fixes for RISC-V U-Boot SPL / OpenSBI boot flow

Rick's recent patch series, which adds support for U-Boot SPL to the Andes platform, brought several problems of the current U-Boot SPL boot flow on RISC-V to light. Discussion on the relevant parts starts at [1]. The problem showed itself in the form of code corruption. At start, OpenSBI relocates itself to its link address. This allows it to be loaded independently of the link address. In the case that the link address ranges of U-Boot SPL and OpenSBI overlap, code corruption occurs if the relocation starts while some harts are still running U-Boot SPL. This series prevents this problem by specifying the hart that performs the relocation and then making sure that it is the last hart to enter OpenSBI, allowing relocation to be completed safely. A recent version of OpenSBI is required for the changes to work. This patch series resolves the problems associated with the use case of overlapping link address ranges. However, it is still recommended to select non-overlapping ranges for U-Boot SPL and OpenSBI. Hey all, It's release day and here is v2020.01-rc4. Yes, I'm still working on fixing all of the issues that pop up as I get the MTD clean-up series ready to go. In fact, what I need to do at this point is grab the handful of size reduction patches that this has shown are worthwhile, then I can do the MTD series. Then we're down to just fixing up misconversions where things got turned off. Once again, for a changelog, git log --merges v2020.01-rc3..v2020.01-rc4 and as always, I ask for more details in the PRs people send me so I can put them in the merge commit. I'm planning on doing -rc5 on December 23rd with the release scheduled on January 6th. Thanks all! -- Tom

[U-Boot] Raspberry Pi Compute Module 1 mini-UART

Hi, I'm working on a project that uses the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 1. Much like the CM 3, the CM 1 has two UART interfaces - the main UART at ttyAMA0, and a second "mini-UART" at ttyS0. The project uses the main UART since it works better at high speeds, so the console has been bumped over to the mini-UART. This works fine for kernel messages and as a TTY console for logging in and interacting with the device, however I've been unable to get u-boot to present it's console over the mini-UART. I've worked deep enough into this to know that u-boot doesn't use the device tree that is set-up in config.txt, so the parameters that I've put in there to activate and remap the mini-UART (UART1 in dts files) to pins 40/41 doesn't apply to u-boot. I'm using the bcm2835-rpi-b dts file currently since it's the best fit for the hardware, but it leaves the mini-UART port disabled. I've tried playing around with the dts files to enable/remap the mini-UART port however I've been unsuccessful. Can anyone give me any pointers as to how I modify the dts files to enable and map the second UART for u-boot to be able to use it? U-Boot binary has grown in such a way that it goes beyond the reserved area for the environment variables. Running "saveenv" followed by a "reset" causes U-Boot to hang because of this overlap. Fix this problem by selecting CONFIG_SYS_THUMB_BUILD=y, which generates a smaller u-boot-dtb.imx binary. Also, in order to prevent this same problem in the future, use CONFIG_BOARD_SIZE_LIMIT, which will detect the overlap in build-time. CONFIG_BOARD_SIZE_LIMIT does not accept math expressions, so declare CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET with its direct value instead.
