rockusb protocol has been introduced by Eddie Cai in U-Boot mainline allowing to write internal eMMC of RK3288 based boards (and potentially all other Rockchip's CPUs). On workstation side the open source project rkdeveloptool do implement the rockusb protocol. This patchest fixes booting Linux Kernel in falcon mode for Vyasa board. What happen is that CPU hangs on SPL while loading kernel from internal eMMC. This issue has been already addressed here [1] but with a wrong approach: it is a clear case of memory corruption and first patch of this serie helps a lot in profiling the same issue in the future. Writing to ext4 from U-Boot is dangerous in case of inconsistent filesystem state (i.e. due to power-loss). The current U-Boot code can modify the filesystem, so that it is no longer usable by Linux after fsck. This patchset avoids writing to the partition on GE devices by moving the boot counter to the last two bytes of VPD EEPROM (together with some VPD cleanups). It also adds non RTC device support to the i2c bootcounter driver. The SPL code for smartweb is close to its limit and adding a few extra instructions to SPL will cause it to overrun its sram allotement (thus causing build failures). To allow adding the 'spl_perform_fixups' extension point to SPL, we'll enable SPL_TINY_MEMSET for smartweb. This patch series intended to make boot log better. Basically here we just remove unwanted error messages, relying on the message from most deep API to be printed (like mmc subsystem). At the moment this looks like most clean solution to cluttered log problem, as any other solution will be hackish. This is another attempt to make boot log better, without hackery this time. Basically here we just remove unwanted error messages, relying on the message from most deep API to be printed (like mmc subsystem). This approach *might* have its shortcomings, though: 1. With no "Failed" message, at some point we *can* end up with no error messages printed at all 2. Removing some collateral error messages *may* lead to loss of useful debug info in other use-cases (env_load() is not only user of those APIs). That being said, at the moment this looks like most clean solution to cluttered log problem, as any other solution either will be hackish or will require some big architectural changes.
