To enhance the SDMMC DesignWare driver to use calloc instead of
malloc. This will avoid the incident that uninitialized members
of mmc structure are later used for NULL comparison.

[U-Boot] [PATCH] Makefile: fix broken pipe error for lcd4_lwmon5 board
by Masahiro Yamada 18 Dec '13
by Masahiro Yamada 18 Dec '13
18 Dec '13
Before this commit, a broken pipe error sometimes happened
when building lcd4_lwmon5 board with Buildman.
This commit re-writes build rules of
u-boot.spr and u-boot-img-spl-at-end.bin
more simply without using a pipe.
Besides fixing a broken pipe error,
this commit gives us other advantages:
- Do not generate intermidiate files, spl/u-boot-spl.img
and spl/u-boot-spl-pad.img for creating u-boot.spr
- Do not generate an intermidiate file, u-boot-pad.img
for creating u-boot-img-spl-at-end.bin
Such intermidiate files were not deleted by "make clean" or "make mrpropr".
Nor u-boot-pad.img was ignored by git.

Hello Simon.
I noticed a broken pipe error when I was using Buildman.
The error happens here:
$(obj)u-boot-img-spl-at-end.bin: $(obj)spl/u-boot-spl.bin $(obj)u-boot.img
tr "\000" "\377" < /dev/zero | dd ibs=1 count=$(CONFIG_UBOOT_PAD_TO) \
of=$(obj)u-boot-pad.img 2>/dev/null
I cannot understand why this error happens on Buildman.
(I have never seen it on MAKEALL script.)
Does the same error happen on your machine too?
Do you have any idea why this error happen?
What I did is as follows:
$ git checkout master
$ git describe
v2014.01-rc2
$ git checkout -b cosmetic
Add many cosmetic commits. Do not change any source files.
(For example, changing README files)
I think about 20 commits are enough.

Here, a broken pipe error occurred at 01 and fixed at 02.
It happend again at 16.
But the result changes every time.
The error happens randomly.

+========================================
+
+This board specification:
+=========================
+
+The SH7753 EVB (board config name:sh7753evb) has the following device:
+
+ - SH7753 (SH-4A)
+ - DDR3-SDRAM 512MB
+ - SPI ROM 8MB
+ - Gigabit Ethernet controllers
+ - eMMC 4GB
+
+
+Configuration for This board:
+=============================
+
+You can select the configuration as follows:
+
+ - make sh7753evb_config
+
+
+This board specific command:
+============================
+
+This board has the following its specific command:
+
+ - write_mac
+
+
+1. write_mac
+
+You can write MAC address to SPI ROM.
+
+ Usage 1) Write MAC address
+
+ write_mac [GETHERC ch0] [GETHERC ch1]
+
+ For example)
+ => write_mac 74:90:50:00:33:9e 74:90:50:00:33:9f
+ *) We have to input the command as a single line
+ (without carriage return)
+ *) We have to reset after input the command.
+
+ Usage 2) Show current data
+
+ write_mac
+
+ For example)
+ => write_mac
+ GETHERC ch0 = 74:90:50:00:33:9e
+ GETHERC ch1 = 74:90:50:00:33:9f
+
+
+Update SPI ROM:
+============================
+
+1. Copy u-boot image to RAM area.
+2. Probe SPI device.
+ => sf probe 0
+ SF: Detected MX25L6405D with page size 64KiB, total 8 MiB
+3. Erase SPI ROM.
+ => sf erase 0 80000
+4. Write u-boot image to SPI ROM.
+ => sf write 0x48000000 0 80000

[U-Boot] [PATCH 1/3] sh: add support for sh7753evb board instead of sh7752evb
by Shimoda, Yoshihiro 18 Dec '13
by Shimoda, Yoshihiro 18 Dec '13
18 Dec '13
The SH7753 EVB board has SH7753, 512MB DDR3-SDRAM, SPI ROM,
Gigabit Ethernet, and eMMC.
This patch support the following functions:
- 512MB DDR3-SDRAM, SCIF4, SPI ROM, Gigabit Ethernet, eMMC
This patch changes the support for sh7752evb to sh7753evb.

Hi all,
I am working on trying to shrink down a bootloader for one of our chips
where the bootloader must fit in around 448K of memory and things are
fairly tight. I found that the oob data structures for 8, 16, 64 and 128
bytes were taking up a fair amount of space. I had to increase the
eccpos size to 640 to match the Linux kernel since the existing size was
too small for some of the NAND devices we are working with. This caused
each oob data structure to consume around 2.5K in the binary. By
initializing the layout data structures at runtime I was able to
eliminate most of the space taken since now the linker can place these
in BSS.
