[U-Boot] [patch 2/2] Add support for building the new U-boot uImage format (FIT-format)

Allow building of the newer FIT-image format for U-boot, while keeping it possible to build the legacy format, for people who do not want to (or can) upgrade to U-boot 1.3.3 or newer. If an older mkimage is detected, or if there is no dtc (Device Tree Compiler) then automagically the legacy format is created. There is also a possibility to force the legacy format by means of a Kconfig option. Note: This patch only adapts this for ARM, AVR32, Blackfin and sh architectures. [U-Boot] [PATCH] ppc44x: RFC: Unification of virtex5 pp440 boards v2

This patch provides an unificated way of handling ppc440 boards. It unificates 3 different things: 1) Source code A new board called ppc440-generic has been created. This board includes a generic tlb initialization (Maps the whole memory into virtual) and defines board_pre_init, checkboard, initdram and get_sys_info weakly, so, they can be replaced by specific functions. If a new board needs to redefine any of the previous functions (specific initialization) it can create a new directory with the specific initializations needed. (see the example ml507 board). 2) Configuration file Common configurations are located under configs/xilinx-ppc440.h, this header file interpretes the xparameters file generated by EDK and configurates u-boot in correspondence. Example: if there is a Temac, allows CMD_CONFIG_NET Specific configuration are located under specific configuration file. (see the example ml507 board) 3) Makefile Some work has been done in order to not duplicate work in the Main Makefile. Please see the attached code. In order to support new boards they can be implemented in the next way: a) Simple Generic Board (90% of the time) Using EDK generates a new xparameters.h file, replace ppc440-generic/xparameters.h and run make xilinx-ppc440-generic_config && make b) Simple Boards with special u-boot parameters (9 % of the time) Create a new file under configs for it (use ml507.h as example) and change your paramaters. Create a new Makefile paragraph and compile c) Complex boards (1% of the time) Create a new folder for the board, like the ml507 Finally, it adds support for the Avnet FX30T Evaluation board, following the new generic structure: Cheap board by Avnet for evaluating the Virtex5 FX technology. This patch adds support for: - UartLite - 16MB Flash - 64MB RAM Prior using U-boot in this board, read carefully the ERRATA by Avnet to solve some memory initialization issues. [U-Boot] [PATCH] ppc44x: RFC: Unification of virtex5 pp440 boards

This patch provides an unificated way of handling ppc440 boards. It unificates 3 different things: 1) Source code A new board called ppc440-generic has been created. This board includes a generic tlb initialization (Maps the whole memory into virtual) and defines board_pre_init, checkboard, initdram and get_sys_info weakly, so, they can be replaced by specific functions. If a new board needs to redefine any of the previous functions (specific initialization) it can create a new directory with the specific initializations needed. (see the example ml507 board). 2) Configuration file Common configurations are located under configs/xilinx-ppc440.h, this header file interpretes the xparameters file generated by EDK and configurates u-boot in correspondence. Example: if there is a Temac, allows CMD_CONFIG_NET Specific configuration are located under specific configuration file. (see the example ml507 board) 3) Makefile Some work has been done in order to not duplicate work in the Main Makefile. Please see the attached code. In order to support new boards they can be implemented in the next way: a) Simple Generic Board (90% of the time) Using EDK generates a new xparameters.h file, replace ppc440-generic/xparameters.h and run make xilinx-ppc440-generic_config && make b) Simple Boards with special u-boot parameters (9 % of the time) Create a new file under configs for it (use ml507.h as example) and change your paramaters. Hi Mike, U-Boot currently only supports one USB host controller at a time. So it's wrong to say that U-Boot finds only one, but correct is, that U-Boot only uses one. Commands to switch between different controllers or multi controller support is missing. Hello, I appreciate any response to the following query... I am developing a project which utilizes u-boot. I started from an Atheros source package which contains a modified u-boot for their AP83 reference design. This reference design has an SST flash chip (SST39VF6401 - http://www.sst.com/products.xhtml/parallel_flash/39/x16/SST39VF6401). This all works well. My OEM partner for the project has developed a Prototype A design, which (in principle) is based on AP83. However, the flash chip is different. This design has an MXIC flash chip (MX25L12805D - http://www.macronix.com/QuickPlace/hq/PageLibrary4825744A00264C7F.nsf/h_ Index/E2C69FC9EFF9292F4825744A0029FE02/?OpenDocument&PartNo=MX25L12805D) I am able to boot the board with this u-boot; however I can not access the flash chip properly. The chip is not identified or addressed properly. I don't have any starting source that I can find for this particular flash chip. I have tried modifying the #defines in flash.c to no avail. I have also tried using various source files (flash.c/h) which I was able to find under our u-boot source tree, as well as 3rd party published source code. At this stage, I'm under the impression that I need to find (or develop!) the u-boot flash driver files. Developing this is a bit out my league.
