I'm afraid, but the "other ppc's" did break with this patch. At least 4xx does. With your patch applied relocation to SDRAM does not work anymore. Here's what I get: CFG_MONITOR_BASE=fffa0000 (ulong)&_start + EXC_OFF_SYS_RESET=fffa2200 EXC_OFF_SYS_RESET=100 I haven't looked into it closer yet. Any idea on how to fix this? Thanks. [U-Boot-Users] "huge" (6 second) delay when booting linux kernel (coldfire)

Hi, I have a problem on startup on my Coldfire MCF5373L board. When the flash is empty, something before booting the linux kernel takes too long such that the watchdog resets my board before there is a chance for the kernel to take over control. This happens only if the (32MB) flash is empty, if there is a filesystem (JFFS2) in it, the delay is much shorter. Everything is fine until and including uncompressing the kernel. I added an entry in lib_m68k/m68k_linux.c to see if the delay happens in U-Boot or in the kernel: puts("Boot\n"); (*kernel) (kbd, initrd_start, initrd_end, cmd_start, cmd_end); When booting without the watchdog, I get this (ttyS2 is the console port): Uncompressing Kernel Image ... OK BootðttyS2 at 0xfc068000 (irq = 92) is a builtin ColdFire UART Between printing the "OK" from uncompressing and "Boot" is where the delay happens. Can anybody give a hint where this delay comes from? Thank you, Wolfgang

Hi, I use a MMCplus 4GB on my design (with at91sam9260). It's wired with 4 bits. Currently U-boot (1.1.5) can't detect correctly the MMC and so I can't read my Linux kernel Image on the ext3 part of this MMC. If I use MMC 1GB, it works. Somebody have already use it? Or somebody have already implemented the ext_csd and high capacity with MMC on another platform? I need help. Thanks in advance to help me. Regards, Pierre

[U-Boot-Users] MBX860 serial communication fails

Hi all I tried to run u-boot-1.1.6 on my old MBX860 board (Version 20C). I tried several version but I always get the same behavoir. No communication on the serial line. Only when I press a key on my keyboard I get a strange string back (for example RETURN give the ASCII code 170 back "¬") What have I done: 1) build own GNU environment ( I follow for this the guideline from Dan Kegel). I did that in cygwin under Windows XP 2) then download u-boot-1.1.6 3) make CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-860-linux-gnu- MBX_config --> works fine 4) make CROSS_COMPILE=powerpc-860-linux-gnu- all --> works fine with a few warnings 5) I use the EPPC of the MBX to download the u-boot.bin and flash it with "pflash 4000:xxxxxxxx fc000000 6) I can check the entries of the flash with md fc000000 and their I see some text like "u-boot Version 1.1.6" --> so flash is written 7) Then I set the jumper J4 to 2-3 but then I got this strange behaviour. Hi, In the uboot1.1.6 code , there are some constants like STACK_FRAME_OVERHEAD and STACK_UNDERHEAD in the file "\include\ppc_asm.tmpl " . Could you please tell me what are the use of those constants ? Here is one statement in the macro CRITICAL_EXCEPTION_PROLOG in the file "ppc_asm.tmpl" subi r21,r1,INT_FRAME_SIZE+STACK_UNDERHEAD; /* alloc exc. frame */\ what is the need of STACK_UNDERHEAD here ? In the macro STD_EXCEPTION there is a statement in the same file addi r3,r1,STACK_FRAME_OVERHEAD What is the need of STACK_FRAME_OVERHEAD here ? Please clarify my doubts .... Thanks Dileep Kumar

Hello, I'm trying to build a U-Boot from your git tree with the AT91 patches. My board is a custom board with a KS8721 instead of the DM9161 network PHY chip. This is the same chip as Olimex used on their development board. Olimex build a U-Boot for their board, they did some code hacking on u-boot. As far as I know they did the following to get the ethernet up and running. [1] This is in the board/at91sam9260ek/dm9161a.c file On the latest git version with the AT91 patches the ethernet driver is called macb??!! Do you know how I can get this working?
