hi all, i read the Readme in the top directory of U-boot 1.3.2. i hope this subject is appropriate. i have a question on the makefile, i want to know where is the $obj define, but it seem it define implicitly when use it. sample: VERSION = 1 PATCHLEVEL = 3 SUBLEVEL = 2 EXTRAVERSION = U_BOOT_VERSION = $(VERSION).$(PATCHLEVEL).$(SUBLEVEL)$(EXTRAVERSION) VERSION_FILE = $(obj)include/version_autogenerated.h so my question is, where is the version_autogenerated.h file? because i couldn;t find it, so i am not sure what is the purpose of this line. please enlighten me on the usage of the the $obj if possible. i am new to u-boot, thank you. regards,-keo

But I think copying that code over into u-boot could not hurt. And considering the age of that code I can't imagine that anybody has a tool chain that can't handle using the -mrelocatable. It would be nice to remove the manual relocation done when it's not needed it is just confusing.

Hi, I was trying to turn on I-Cache while u-boot is executing out of Flash on MPC5121 ADS board, and just found the board refused to boot. After debug and tried many different ways, we finally found that the root of the problem is the SYNC macro definition in u-boot include/ppc_asm.tmpl file. The SYNC was defined as #define SYNC \ sync; \ isync By turning on I-cache on powerpc e300 core, ICE bit of HID0 needs to be set. Before setting ICE, an isync operation need to be issued. In the cpu/mpc512x/start.S file, this is done by using a 'SYNC' statement. But we found we need to add one more sync operation to guarantee isync is complete. I think it is more safe to change the SYNC definition in ppc_asm.tmpl to the following, #define SYNC \ sync; \ isync; \ sync Just a suggestion. Best Regards, Ronda

bugfix: the watchdog post for lwmon5 doesn't work. This Patch fix it. To trigger and activate the watchdog correct it is necessary to create 2 pulses. Lowpegel on GPIO62 point to a voltagefailure. The original u-boot running on board was burn AT 0xFFF00000, (Flash is mapped to 0xFE000000-0xFFFFFFFF) The CFG_RESET_ADDRESS = 0xFE000000 The original and new u-boot file difference is only two place. 1. CONFIG_AUTOBOOT_PROMPT (use it to verify the new u-boot startup correctly) 2. board/myboard/config.mk->TEXT_BASE = 0xFE000000 Then I place the new u-boot.bin file to the 0xFE000000, and then run the "reset" cmd from original u-boot's prompt. but it's seem the new u-boot was not startup. the console still print the original u-boot's CONFIG_AUTOBOOT_PROMPT.
