is there a document somewhere covering the API for the ethernet layer ? some drivers i look at implement the eth_* functions (like drivers/smc9111.c) while others hook into the generic net/ layer but requires adding a call to the init function in net/eth.c ... -mike

[U-Boot-Users] Some updates to the -v2 tree

Hi all, I made some updates to the -v2 tree last weekend which are worth doing a git pull: - update crc32 command to allow checksum calculation of files - fix silly bug in unregister_device(). When unregistering devices we have to compare the device pointers and not the names. - implement memmap(). With this function we can get a pointer to directly memory mapped devices like nor flash or RAM. Useful for bootm where we save one memcopy when the image is mappable. - re-activate protect command, make it work with devices. - some whitespace cleanups in the code, fixed some compiler warnings. changes in the editor: - fix a memory hole - fix reading of empty lines. - put the command prompt at the beginning of the line when exiting edit. Hi all, I'm experiencing a weird problem with current U-Boot sources. Variable bootfile can't be modified as expected. When the board boots, bootfile looks like this: bootfile=parsy/prelk/uImage If I change it, the new value is appended to the env but old value in not deleted: parsy> setenv bootfile abc parsy> print bootfile bootfile=parsy/prelk/uImage parsy> print bootdelay=3 baudrate=115200 ... bootfile=parsy/prelk/uImage ... stdin=serial stdout=serial stderr=serial bootfile=abc Environment size: 1381/131067 bytes parsy> Then If I issue manually setenv bootfile the first occurrence is deleted. If I issue the same command again the second occurrence (abc) is deleted. Anybody experienced similar problems? I am using Uboot as my boot loader. Actually here I want to do console redirection through USB port. So that I have to modify console redirection via serial code to console redirection via of USB To do that first I want to know how serial console redirection is done in the UBOOT code. i.e., how in uboot the "serial console redirection" is implemented. For console redirection(serial) there should be some code, somewhere in the UBoot. I want to know how and where(in file,in which function) the console redirection is implemented. I noticed, that "nand lock status" always shows a start address of zero. As I don't have JTAG for my hardware, I am very reluctant at testing changes to u-boot, but I have looked at the source and tried to figure out the problem. I have appended an UNTESTED patch, that hopefully gets you an idea on the problem. WARNING: To repeat, this patch is completely UNTESTED. I include it only for reference purposes.
