Hi folks I just downloaded the latest U-Boot 1.1.6 and the compilation for any 85xx board fails at the end (final linker stage). Hi, I am using BMW platform with PPCBoot version 1.2.0. I am seeing a very strange behavior after system powerup. 1. After powering up the target, it goes into auto-boot mode. I configured it to use tftp to download an image file. Unfortunately I entered some wrong parameters in the environment variables. So, I wanted to correct them. 2. When the system is auto-booting, I pressed Ctrl-C system takes me to a prompt. Then I tried to set the variable. After this operation, entire environment variables disappear. 3. I am including my console output here. I am not sure how to come out this either. Here is a patch to fix the calculation of CPU clock speed on the MPC8245. The PLL ratio table in the current code is just for the 8240. This is my first patch submission. The patch is in at attachment. [U-Boot-Users] Reset of br0 in cpu_init.c for MPC850 causes BDI exception

Hi all, I found a little problem in cpu/mpc8xx/cpu_init.c in u-boot-1.2.0. There are some instructions to reset br0 for MPC850 near line 120. This code is executed for all cpu. In my opinion should be limited to MPC850 cpu because, after a few lines when br0 is configured with CFG_BR0_PRELIM, debuggers (like BDI) receive a machine check exception. It seems that resetting BR0 and setting it again causes some debugging problems. Bye, Antonio.

Hi, Wanted to know if there is any provision for having different levels of Logins (and their passwords) already available in U-Boot. We need to implement separate login for 1) User 2) Admin 3) To enable Factory settings 4) A "Component Specific Secondary prompt" that would display commands specific to only that component (like T1E1, FEC, PaBX, HDD etc.) for running Diagnostics Will the HUSH parser implementation help ? Well not sure if this is really a problem, but it has me wondering which is the right direction to solve it. I have an MPC8360E board, with PCI and have defined the following values: PCI MEM = 0x8000_0000 set at 256MB PCI MMIO = 0x9000_0000 set at 256MB PCI IO = 0xF100_0000 set at 16MB The PNP configuration of U-boot will of course read different memory maps of cards, and allocate memory for such. When attempting to put a graphics card in the slot and use PNP configuration, the card auto-detects as two devices of 128MB each. This of course consumes the entire PREFETCH space <it is a 256MB ATI card>. Great this is correct, however, now when system steps down to the 2nd PCI bridge and attempts to allocate a small region space for the area, one would expect an error to be thrown since we are out of memory. But instead it continues to allocate into the MMIO space, and we end up with something like this in the Configuration space of the PCI bridge. PCI_MEM_BASE = 0x9001_0000 PCI_MEM_LIMIT = 0x9000_0000 The limit is lower than the BASE, and this entire region should be limited to 0x8FFF_FFFF anyway. For now I have changed the location of the PCI_MEM to be at 0xA000_0000, above the MMIO space so that over allocations do not destroy the mappings of the MMIO space. Has anyone else seen this problem? -Russ
