[U-Boot-Users] Problem with TFTP in u-boot 1.1.4

Hi, I am new at embedded design and I have some problems with u-boots. I downloaded a patched version of the u-boot 1.1.4 for the board AT91RM9200EK from a FTP Atmel site. To run it I had to make some changes in the configuration file of the u-boot source code at91rm9200ek.h. Basically this changes were about to define the CONFIG_SKIP_LOWLEVEL_INIT, CFG_ENV_IS_IN_FLASH instead of dataflash and other values related to the Flash memory addresses. I only modified this file. When I crosscompile it with a cross toolchain from codesourcery, everything goes well and once downloaded in the board everything works perfectly. However one thing doesn't work. When I try to download image files using TFTP protocol it doesn't work, it seems like disabled, a lot of unsuccessful tries and bad checksums. The IP addresses of the board and of my PC are corrects and the ethernet cables are plugged. When I remove this u-boot and I download the u-boot image file provided with the Atmel CD and try to use TFTP without changing the IP addresses, everything works fine. I don't know how to solve this problem. If someone knows, please let me know. Thanks, Javier

[U-Boot-Users] MMC Card Problems with U-Boot 1.1.6

Hello. I’m using U-Boot 1.1.6, and I’m having problems with the MMC support. My board is a custom board based on the PXA270 CPU, with 128MB of SDRAM and 64MB of internal flash. Using the loadb command, I can successfully copy my filesystem to the SDRAM. Then, I use the cp.b command to transfer it to flash. Everything works properly and the filesystem transfers without any problem. Next, I tried using the fatload command to copy the same exact filesystem from the MMC card to SDRAM. U-Boot claims that the entire file was copied correctly as indicated by the filesize environment variable. However, once I move the filesystem to flash, it ends up corrupted in the flash. I can only conclude that the fatload command has incorrectly copied the filesystem from the MMC card to SDRAM. Has anybody had trouble using MMC cards and the fat commands with a PXA270 CPU? I don’t receive any error messages, so I’m not really sure where to look. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Steve

Hi: I am working with a MPC8360EA MDS processor board with Rev2.0 silicon and DDR2 memory in it. I need to program the flash with u-boot using BDI2000. I downloaded the BDI config gile from the following FTP site as susggested in the mailing list. ftp://83.125.32.26/bdigdb/config/powerpc/mpc83xx/ I verified the DDR2 parameters from u-boot and it matches the configuration section of the BDI config file too. The board has 32MB Spansion flash in it (S29GL256N). Hi all, This is a patch to make relocation simpler and more reliable. It's for a 1.1.6 U-Boot version. The FIXUP section in U-Boot is empty so when U-Boot is relocated from flash to sdram these lines in the file start.S have no effect: /* * Now adjust the fixups and the pointers to the fixups * in case we need to move ourselves again. */ 2: li r0,__fixup_entries@sectoff@l lwz r3,GOT(_FIXUP_TABLE_) cmpwi r0,0 mtctr r0 addi r3,r3,-4 beq 4f 3: lwzu r4,4(r3) lwzux r0,r4,r11 add r0,r0,r11 stw r10,0(r3) stw r0,0(r4) bdnz 3b 4: Because of it, in some places of U-Boot the relocation must be done manually: i.e malloc_bin_reloc(). I submit the patch only for the Lite5200 boards and the rest of boards will be not affected. If someone want to use or test the fixup relocation for his board only has to do two changes: - cleanup the fixup section from the text section in the u-boot.lds file. - define CFG_FIXUP_RELOCATION in the board configuration file. I'm not sure if this patch could work for not PowerPC based architectures. By example, taking a look in the U-Boot starting files for mips and bf533 cpu's, it seems that only the GOT section is relocated in ram, so the patch probably won't work.
