Hello, This patch adds support for the Wind River SBC8548. This board requires support for the Broadcom BCM5461S (which was submitted previously as an independent patch). [U-Boot-Users] Secure Firmware + Firmware Upgrade?

Hello, I know this has been asked directly/indirectly before but i need to know if my approach is correct or not? Any correction or opinion are highly appreciated so please feel free to correct me. My requirement is to (1) Load and boot an image which is signed i.e. before the image could be booted i need to check for the authenticity. This is to support image for a given vendor only (2) Support Firmware Upgrade Following is my approach: The flash memory segment shall be virtually divided into four partitions (1) Boot-bit (type read-write) (2) U-Boot image (type read-only) (3) Boot Script Image (type read-only) (4) Firmware Image (type read-write) The boot-delay environment variable shall be set to 0 so boot process could not be manually overridden, The bootcmd envrionment variable shall "cp the-boot-script-image from flash to RAM" and "bootm the-boot-script-image". The boot script image is not compressed. The very first thing boot-script-image shall check to see will be if the Boot-bit is set or not Case 1: If the boot-bit flag is set, the boot-script shall copy the image to RAM and check the signed/encrypted image for authenticity and integrity (how this is done is yet to be identified) If the check is successfull the image shall than be decrypted, expanded and executed (bootm) Case 2: If the boot flag is not set the boot-loader shall copy the new firmware image to a given address in RAM via kermit protocol erase the old kernel image at the given address copy the new image from RAM to flash finally save env so the new firmware is writable set the boot-bit to boot from the new firmware reset CPU Best Regards, rohit

Hi all, We are running U-Boot on Xilinx XUPV2Pro board. The board is quite similar to the Xilinx ML300 board. Original board has one ethernet interface. In order to embed the functionality of router to the board, we designed a daughter board to provide additional ethernet interfaces. The Board Support Package files for the board along with the daughter card are generated in Xilinx. In order to make both the interfaces visible in U-Boot what changes are required in the U-Boot? [U-Boot-Users] how to reuse the malloc function in u-boot?

because our board have a ram on chip, so i need to rewrite a mini loader to run linux, and i want to move the u-boot's malloc function to my mini loader. i find in every board.c it call the mem_malloc_init(); malloc_bin_reloc(); to init someting for malloc. and because my miniloader is linked at ram address, so i think i do not need the malloc_bin_reloc. so i just copy the mem_malloc_init to my miniloader, and modify as { ulong dest_addr = CFG_MALLOC_END; mem_malloc_end = dest_addr; mem_malloc_start = CFG_MALLOC_START; mem_malloc_brk = mem_malloc_start; memset ((void *) mem_malloc_start, 0, mem_malloc_end - mem_malloc_start); } and also copy the sbrk to my program.and the dlmalloc,malloc.h are copyed to my program without modification, but it run occur error at the line like set_head(top, top_size | PREV_INUSE); i think it caused by the operation of top. need i do anyting other to run the malloc function correctly? (BTW: maybe this problem is not in the range of u-boot using, if it make others confused, i apologize) Thanks for any hints Best Regards zhuzhenhua

i tansfer uboot 1.1.4 to my s3c44b0x board,now i want to port uclinux to my board. when start ,the com0 displays as follow: U-Boot 1.1.4_XT (Jun 3 2006 - 12:00:43) U-Boot code: 0C100000 -> 0C11B100 BSS: -> 0C11FBBC RAM Configuration: Bank #0: 0c000000 16 MB Flash: 2 MB *** Warning - bad CRC, using default environment In: serial Out: serial Err: serial Hit any key to stop autoboot: 0 ## Booting image at 00020000 ... Bad Magic Number => now i had got the file "linux.r,romfs.img" under redhat 9.0 crosscompiler, but i do not know how to transfer these two files to my board ? who i give me any suggestions? thx ! another problem, i found my board now reset itsself several minutes (about 5 -10minutes),are there anyproblem in my porting u-boot 1.1.4 to my board? xt 060603

[U-Boot-Users] Newbie needs help to build Uboot

Hi all, I'm new to Uboot and Linux. I have a Taihu board and trying to build the firmware for this board. I installed successfully ELDK from the CD included in the Eval Kit. I also downloaded "taihu_u-boot_src.tar.gz" from AMCC website and extracted it to a local directory. When I tried to run "make ppc_config", I got the error message below: "make: gcc: command not found" "make: ***: No rule to make target `ppc_config'. Stop." I found gcc program under /ELDK/ppc_4xx/usr/bin. But when I went to this directory and tried to run gcc from there, it also said "gcc: command not found" How can I fix this problem?
