[U-Boot-Users] CF card support issue

Hello all, I support the CF card in u-boot, and met this issue: I used the memory mapped addressing. When set 0xE0(use LBA) to the Drive/Head Register, then read it, it was set 0xE0 correctly. Then I need check the status of the CF card, read the STATUS Register, It always 0x51(ready to accept cmd, card ready, something error). Then I read the Error Register it always 0x04(cmd aborted or invalid cmd). But that configuration was not a cmd. Why it always got this error? Does someone ever seed this? Some suggests? Hi all, I am using Kernel 2.6.16 with U-Boot 1.1.4. I am using ARM IntegratorCP Simulator. I created Objects with mkimage and while booting the image i'm getting the information as below ## Checking Image at 00007fc0 ... Uncompressing Linux............................................................................done, booting the kernel ===> It hangs here. I tried the FAQ from the following address, http://www.denx.de/wiki/DULG/LinuxHangsAfterUncompressingKernel But there is no use, I am using latest versions and my parameters are passed perfectly, the bd structure is also good and I tried with both clock informations. Did I miss something? I dont know where will be the problem. Where is the problem either in u-boot loader or in kernel? Could you help me to give clue for atleast how to trace the error? I am dumping in this error for last four weeks. Any help will be appreciated!!

I've come up with a patch that does not break any existing boards and naming of the macro is in line with other U-Boot macros for similar settings. Dear Thomas, I make my U-boot image from PC to DBAu1550, I used GCC 3.4.4, with mipsel-linux-sdelinux-6.03.01-1 toolchain, while I make my U-boot image with U-boot-1.1.4, I got the following messages: mipsel-linux-ld: hello_world.o: compiled for a little endian system and target is big endian mipsel-linux-ld: hello_world.o: endianness incompatible with that of the selected emulation mipsel-linux-ld: failed to merge target specific data of file hello_world.o I searched for related articles on U-Boot Website and Mailing lists, but I can't find out any helpful messages to fix the problem. [U-Boot-Users] ppc4xx: Initializing GPIO0_OR and GPIO0_ODR

(Note: This is specific to PPC405EP but it might be applicable to other 4xx cpus) On a PPC405EP based boards, U-Boot is initializing below registers to select between primary and alternate functions of the GPIO pins (e.g. GPIO10 vs CS1) using the CFG_CPIO0_... macros defined in the board config file. GPIO0_TCR, GPIO0_OSRH, GPIO0_OSRL, GPIO0_TSRH, GPIO0_TSRL, GPIO0_ISR1H, GPIO0_ ISR1L This much is sufficient for alternate function programming. However, if a the GPIO pin is actually used as GPIO output pin, the initial signal level presented happens to be "0" which may not be appropriate for some implementations. I propose to introduce CFG_GPIO0_OR and CFG_CPIO0_ODR macros that could be defined in the appropriate board config file and initialize GPIO0_OR and GPIO0_ODR before GPIO0_TCR. If these macros are undefined the existing code behavior could be maintained so the additional macros would not break any existing board or add any additional code. I will be introducing a patch to take care of this but I wanted to get feedback first. FYI: For our board, we have a GPIO line connected to an active low reset line of a custom ASIC chip. There is a pull-up so during the time while this pin is tri-state/input we should not reset the ASIC automatically while management processor is booting. Our ASIC can operate independently while the management processor is booting.

I have a problem with some changes you (Jeff) did in u-boot related to compact flash. Can you help me understand why you put this: + /* Reset the configruation controller */ + val = ace_readw(0x18); + val|=0x0080; + ace_writew(val, 0x18); + into the systemace_read function? This is causing me grief, with the linux SystemACE indicating an error: JTAG controller couldn't read configuration from the CompactFlash while booting Linux with a ext3 partition on the SystemACE CF. When I comment those lines out of cmd_ace.c, my boot starts to work again. I suspect this "reset" of the config portion of the systemace is causing the SystemACE to start trying again to configure when the reset is released at the end of a block read. The Makefile rule for creating srec and bin files fails for me frequently. I believe that we should be doing the ojbcopy on the .o files, not the ELF binary. Hello mkconfig creates include/asm-*/arch. but some board this symbolic link is broken and not necessary. with this patch, mkconfig wil create a sym-link when there is a directory to link.
