[U-Boot-Users] Replacing AT91 u-boot

Hello, I'm sorry but I am still facing to problems trying to replace the existing u-boot-0.3.2 with the latest 1.1.3 on a at91rm9200dk board. I built u.boot make at91rm9200dk_config make then I reomved R159 from the board and booted, then I sent loader.bin (found on Atmel website) then I send the just builded u-boot.bin but at this point the AT91 system freezes showing few random characters on the serial console. If I use the original u-boot.bin 0.3.2 everything is ok, what am I missing ? Hello, I have upgraded U-Boot 1.1.2 to lastest 1.1.3. I still uses the boot.bin program to set up the flash and the dram and such while having defined SKIP_RELOCATE_UBOOT and SKIP_LOWLEVEL_INIT. Indeed kept undefined I have seen that it breaks everything reaching SoC specific lowlevel_init.S in cpu/.../start.S. Imagine reinitializing flash while reading init values from it, or reinit the memory controller while using it ! It seems that these two were compulsory in my case. But even defined, my cpu goes in ABORT. Any ideas ? Regards, Mathieu Deschamps

Wolfgang, Yes indeed I duplicated cfi_flash.c. The changes in my previous patch to CFI were rejected. You indicated see the previous list mail on the subject. Your assertion at that time was to put things into the board specific files was one way to go. The patch I had at that time was ifdef'ed just for my board in CFI and for the flash part I'm using would seem to show errors. I think those OMAP specific ifdef's may fix errors, but I being its such a highly coupled driver it is very difficult to add in changes with out breaking a lot of boards. How do you suggest real integration into that driver? The 1% changes are minor and isolated now and that's not acceptable what is? I certainly can break the patch into parts, but they are all coupled. The chip and board are very new have went though flux and this results in large patches at this time. This is not a PPC821 which shouldn't have a lot of change. [U-Boot-Users] [PATCH] Major overhaul for Xilinx ML300 board support

Attached the CHANGELOG entry for a larger patch that overhauls the ML300 support in U-Boot. The patch is needed as a bug fix for several items around IIC, System ACE CF, and Ethernet MAC that did not work or did not work properly. It is also a preparatory and required patch for additional patches that I plan to submit shortly to add support for more Xilinx boards around Virtex-II Pro and Virtex-4 FX FPGAs. All modifications in this patch affect the board/xilinx sub-directory and include/configs/ml300.h only. The patch itself is too large to submit to the list (70k). It can be found at ftp://customer:xilinx@ftp.xilinx.com/upload/ml300.2005-09-27.patch.txt.gz This area is cleaned out on a regular basis. If the patch should no longer be available from this area send me an email and I will upload it again. The patch applies cleanly against the current CVS tree. It also does not generate any warnings during compilation and passes the "MAKEALL ppc" test (there are errors, e.g. cpci5200, but I cannot see how they could be caused by this patch). While most parts adhere to the coding style there are some pieces in the patch that do not comply 100%. These pieces are mostly in comments or in include files. I tried to clean this up over the past few days but constantly broke something more important (i.e. code and compilation). I hope this patch can be applied to the CVS tree as is. If so, I plan to submit one or multiple follow-up patches that will fix coding style issues. After the patch is applied, board/xilinx/ml300/sw_services with all its files and sub-directories should be removed from the CVS tree. This directory has been moved up to board/xilinx/sw_services as it is not specific to the ML300 board and will be reused for other Xilinx boards. Attached is a second small patch (cm.patch) with changes to the MAINTAINERS and CREDITS file. I hope that's okay. - Peter * Overhaul, fix and clean up board support for the Xilinx ML300 board. Fix IIC. IIC support did not work properly. This patch fixes the issues. Fix Environment. The environment is now by default stored in the IIC EEPROM on the board if the hardware has IIC support. If not the default environment is used (CFG_ENV_IS_NOWHERE). Remove support for board and U-Boot environment. In the original (non-working) IIC code the attempt was made to keep the board environment from production testing and the U-Boot environment in sync. This support is removed as it did not work and caused confusion. U-Boot has now only access to the U-Boot environment while the environment from production test is left alone. Fix Ethernet. The Ethernet MAC address is now read from the environment. If no EMAC address is present in the environment a default address is programmed into the environment and used by the hardware. Move sw_services away from board/xilinx/ml300 into board/xilinx. This sub-directory is not specific to a board but to the vendor. Update drivers for the Xilinx IIC and EMAC devices with additional inline documentation and bug fixes. Fix compile time problems. If the FPGA hardware was a subset of what U-Boot supports U-Boot would not compile properly. This patch fixes the issues. As long as the byte-swapped length value is larger than the requested size value, then you'll never have a problem. Now assume the file is 2meg and you requested 2meg. IF( len=200000 (2meg) > filesize=2000(2meg byte-swapped) ) THEN len = filesize You end up getting only 2000 bytes. What for is cpu/mpc824x ? I found "Embedded Planet EP8248" uses 8260 one, an no other examples with tmpc8248. But init code from boards uses mpc824x code seems not to be very usefull for 8248 processor ... Are there any other examples of boards witm mpc8248?

Hello Wolfgang, Attached is a patch generated today from a pull from the u-boot.git tree using cg-mkpatch. Please apply this and dump any patches you might have in your queue. Your updates over the weekend left the omap242x processor on head non-functional. This patch is completely 24xx contained. I have stopped using drivers/cfi_flash.c and moved to using a private board copy as discussed in an earlier thread. The couple of files external touches are just changing from CONFG_OMAP2420 to CONFIG_OMAP24XX. * Patch by Richard Woodruff, 28 Sep 2005: OMAP242x H4 board update - Switch to private cfi_flah.c file. - Make work for 2422 mono-ddr. - Make work for 2420-POP. - Use clock gauging to determine crystal speed. - Fix warm reset problem with bad OTGCTRL access. - Switch to DDR unlock mode operation for DLL errata. - Remove obsolete APTIX conditionals. - Display more information at startup. - Use 24XX instead of 2420 in prep for future chips. Hello Wolfgang, Attached is a patch generated today from a pull from the u-boot.git tree using cg-mkpatch. Please apply this and dump any patches you might have in your queue. Your updates over the weekend left the omap242x processor on head non-functional. This patch is completely 24xx contained. I have stopped using drivers/cfi_flash.c and moved to using a private board copy as discussed in an earlier thread. The couple of files external touches are just changing from CONFG_OMAP2420 to CONFIG_OMAP24XX. * Patch by Richard Woodruff, 28 Sep 2005: OMAP242x H4 board update - Switch to private cfi_flah.c file. - Make work for 2422 mono-ddr. - Make work for 2420-POP. - Use clock gauging to determine crystal speed. - Fix warm reset problem with bad OTGCTRL access. - Switch to DDR unlock mode operation for DLL errata. - Remove obsolete APTIX conditionals. - Display more information at startup. - Use 24XX instead of 2420 in prep for future chips. Hi, I am u-boot newbie, and I have a AT91rm9200DK board with u-boot 0.3.2 preinstalled by the vendor. I am using the ARM926T with pnx4008 board, it has both USB host and device interfaces. Can I use the USB *device* port to load a binary image into my development board ? i.e. does u-boot support the USB DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) protocol? I"d like to use uboot to load the image via image from a file server - for example to the way I would do it with tftp. If I make a product that has a USB device interface, I"d like to be able to upgrade the firmware via that same USB link. David Flament

It says: ethprime - When CONFIG_NET_MULTI is enabled controls which interface is used first. ethact - When CONFIG_NET_MULTI is enabled controls which interface is currently active. For example you can do the following => setenv ethact FEC ETHERNET => ping 192.168.0.1 # traffic sent on FEC ETHERNET => setenv ethact SCC ETHERNET => ping 10.0.0.1 # traffic sent on SCC ETHERNET > and i could only found the deviec eth0 (FEC) and lo by using the ifconfig -a command, You see only interfaces listed that have been configured.
