Dear Denis, can you tell me something about the SCSI support in the current versions of U-Boot? It seems the MIB405 board (maintained by you) has SCSI support enabled, but the whole code in common/cmd_scsi.c seemd to be unused - for example, there is no caller of do_scsi() or do_scsiboot() anywhere in the whole source tree? [U-Boot-Users] u-boot 1.1.1 and USB mass storage devices

Hello, We are using u-boot on a Samsung S3C2410 based board and have USB mostly working using the arm920t USB driver. I say mostly working as some mass storage devices work fine, but most do not. Typically the behavior we see when they don't work is a "usb reset" reports the correct number of devices, a "usb tree" will return the correct device tree but "usb scan" will typically return a lot of CLI:TIMEOUT errors and seemingly never return. Sometimes it is able to find the storage device, but reading from it (it has a FAT16 filesystem) will return similar errors. I'm curious if these are known problems or likely to be something in the way we have (or have not) set up usb? Might anyone have some recommendations as to where to start looking? In the 8260 FCC ethernet loopback test code, frames are deliberately sent as broadcast packets, and then any incoming frame is treated as having an error if it is a broadcast packet. This patch fixes a typo in the "mkconfig" script. The operator "==" is used instead of "=", which works with bash's built-in "test" (aka "[") but not with solaris "/bin/sh" i.e. the script is no-longer standard bourne shell compatible. Cheers! [U-Boot-Users] problems starting u-boot on AT91RM9200

I've been trying to get u-boot 1.1.3 to start on an AT91RM9200 system, but I can't get it to start properly. Once u-boot is copied to memory and loader tries to start it, I get garbage on the screen and that is it. The problem seems to be in lowlevel_initS. When it tries to transfer a setup value to a register, that's when it fails. I've tried just changing one value and it still fails. What am I missing? I've read the FAQs in the u-boot manual, but I haven't been able to find the right answer. Thank you!

Greetings everyone - I am working on a port of U-Boot to a custom Xilinx Virtex2 Pro FPGA based board which uses the PPC405 inside the FPGA. The plan is to base the port on the existing ml300 port. The nature of the design requires that the Xilinx System ACE compact flash card be the only nonvolatile memory on the board - no plain old FLASH memory or I2C EEPROM. Therefore, I would like to store the U-Boot environment as a file on the compact flash card. I have checked the latest CVS sources and it appears that no one has implemented this yet. Before I take a crack at it, is anyone planning to do this or in the process of doing it? Does anyone have any advice or caveats? Thanks, Keith

[U-Boot-Users] Why can't I write flash on my custom board(mpc8540 based)?

Hi, all There are two different type flashs on our customboard (mpc8540 based): AM29LV040B(bank 2) and 28F128J3(bank 1). To support the both, I refer to the example "board/cpu86/flash.c". My work is mainly to change flash width from 64bit to 8bit. Using flash driver, I can do any operation on AM29LV040B, such as erase, cp. But 28F128J3 does not work well: a) I use "erase 1:0" to erase the first block, but I found that all block of this flash is 0xff (using "md.b"). b) After eraseing, I can copy something to the flash successfully(using "cp.b" to copy and "md.b" to view). c) When I reboot the board, it seems that nothing happened to the flash. The content of the flash is not changed. I am so puzzled, what happend? Best Regards, Cui

If our board start up firstly, the system board can find and access the 21555. System board can not find and access the 21555 if they are start up simultaneously. I am working with the soft i2c code on my target and I believe there is a problem in the send_ack() function. My hardware (au1550) uses standard push-pull drivers which can be tri-stated by changing them to inputs, so I have I2C_ACTIVE and I2C_TRISTATE defined as per the README. When reading the real time clock (ST M41T60) on my board I could never get 8 successive reads of the device to complete. Somewhere in the middle of reading the data the clock would start returning 0xff. If I read the registers one at a time, it worked fine. read_byte() leaves the clock high at the end of shifting in the read data. usually the internal state of the data out register on the CPU was low from generating the last ack and the data line is tristate on the CPU (done at the start of read_byte()). The physical data line is in an unknown state depending on the last data bit read. Looking at the beginning of the send_ack() code it goes: I2C_ACTIVE; I2C_SCL(0); I2C_DELAY; If the external data line is high and the internal register for the I/O on the CPU is low, this will generate a repeated start condition. It might be missed by a lot of parts since the edges happen with minimal delay in between. In my case changing the order to: I2C_SCL(0); I2C_DELAY; I2C_ACTIVE; seems to fix my issues. Unfortunately due to internal CVS/firewall/VPN issues I can't get a patch together easily right now. -- Hardware, n.: The parts of a computer system that can be kicked.

The flash is mapped from 0x10000000 to 0x10800000. u-boot delilveres the start address of the initrd to the kernel which is 0x10160000, if the image is located in flash. But the Kernel expects an address located in the sdram which is mapped from 0x2000000 to 0x24000000. Thats why the kernel is not able to mount the initrd. I have one more question about using the bootm command. I searched the do_bootm_linux() function to find out what u-boot is doing when booting linux using the bootm command, because the kernel patch i found in the mailing list (which makes the kernel able to copy an initrd directly from flash to ram) has to be used with kernel version 2.4.18, but i have 2.6.12. It seems as if u-boot checks for an enviroment string called "initrd_high" and if it exists, u-boot does not copy the initrd to ram -> the kernel will fail to load the ramdisk. But there is no such string in my enviroment, so shouldn't the bootm command copy initrd to it's designated sdram location? It seems as it does not because the start address of the initrd, which u-boot delivers to the linux kernel is located in flash (one can read it in the kernel booting sequence; the error is that the initrd extends physical memory, but it's quite clear why this error occures). Is it possible to force u-boot to copy the image to ram? Of course i could use the cp.b command before using bootm (i tested this and it works fine), but thats not what i want to do. Hi Everyone, We are designing a CPU card based on ATMEL AT91RM9200. In this we are using 2 MB NOR flash connected in parallel with AT91RM9200. Also we are using 16 MB SDRAM. We are trying to download the uboot.bin given by atmel using loader.bin. It fails to download into the flash. Whereas the atmel reference board uses SPI flash. Could any one guide us to overcome this problem. Advanced thanks for your valuable suggestion. Thanks & Regards, Mohan
