Hi All, Attached is a patch that adds support to u-boot for the Kendin/Micrel KS8695P CPU. It is an ARM9 based SoC type device, used in a lot of little routers. This patch was originally generated against u-boot 1.1.1. I am following up this patch with a couple of more patches that add support for the OpenGear CM4008 and CM4116/CM4148 console manager boards (that use the KS8695P CPU). Regards Greg

(-20) What's the problem? I don't know that what's mean the message and What's problem..

Hello All, We are using Inca-IP board with U-Boot loader. In our board, we are using top boot flash. Present Inca-IP board is having only uniform boot flash init code. Turns out that if the flash chip is in "Write enable" mode when the reboot occurs, the CPU can't read the bootloader from it and the board hangs. Hi folks, We have a 5282 in our prototype board based in an Avnet board, with the lastest u-Clinux dist. and U-Boot, and we have an annoying behaviour. The 80% times we push the reset button, uClinux don't boot, and we have to plug off the power and plug on to boot correctly. We have checked the reset out signal from the micro, and it's ok. Hi All, We are developing an embedded system with u-boot and montavista embedded linux. We need to implement syslog concept in u-boot also. Currently i am using DHCP related code to get an IP from the server. and also i am loading runimages(linux kernel and application) dinamically using DHCP and TFTP. Here i have to implement syslog to send messages when any currepted images are being downloaded into embedded system. Can some one tell me how to enable syslog clien t in u-boot are any libraries are available to send messages to syslog server. Thanks in Advance, Nagi

Yes, I am interested to have a look at your SH4 patches. Even though it is not an exact match to the SH7720 processor it will be interesting to see which parts of the existing code need to be touched. Do you run little or big endian? If you should send the patches in a Zip archive please rename the extension from .zip to something else, e.g. .zap. The coporate virus scanner does not like Zip archives at all. All kinds of packed tar archives should be fine though. TIA Mark Jonas

We have released a second revision of the 5282 u-boot code. Probably still not integratable into the main tree I'm afraid, but with several bug fixes and improvements. Notably functional support for Internal/External boot of 2M/4M flash for the SoM-5282EM. Hello, does anybody know or has tried a port of U-Boot to a Renesas SH3 (SuperH) little endian platform? I am thinking of using U-Boot as a comfy bootloader on a SH3 platform (SH7720 to be specific). Any warnings what I should look out for when doing the port myself? Any recommandations which existing architecture would be a good starting point? Thanks Mark Jonas

Is there someone having a configuration file for the Metrowerks "QUICCstart 8540 Evaluation System" which is an evaluation board for the MPC8540 CPU? I'm also looking the reg8540.def file for the MPC8540 processor, maybe the mpc8560.reg would work but i'm not shure. Thanks, Armand

when I print : $insmod hello.o in the kernel the system tells me the insmode command is not implemented how can I make the command active?(I don't wanna use busybox described in the pdf by now)

Sorry, no experience with NetSilicon stuff, but.. U-Boot runs very well on plain ARM7TDMI core, take a look at board/dave/B2 (which is based on Samsung S3C44B0X) and cpu/s3c44b0x (which is an ARM7TDMI processor). Sorry but there is not a cpu/arm7tdmi directory ;-). Still I never try to compile in Thumb mode, but only using ARM instructions. Best Regards, Andrea Scian

Hey folks, Just wondering, does u-boot support periodical reset of watchdog timer ? If not, I suppose I have to disable the watchdog when I enter uboot in interactive mode, and probably enable it when I exit u-boot. How does people normally do this ? Hi, We are planning to use uboot on our system and wanted to know if u-boot can probe the memory installed on the system automatically and pass the correct mem size to linux kernel ? Way I could understand it was that the mem size and offset had to be compile time #define'ed .. what if we want same image to work on 2 different memory configuration hardware ? how does the memory probe work on PC etc ? bootloaders use BIOS Calls ? how can I do this on my ixdp425 plattform ? [U-Boot-Users] Big Block NAND, JFFS2, and Me

Howdy. The board I am porting to uses Samsung's K9F1G08U0M NAND--which it appears is a "Big Block NAND" chip and non-standard. I've tried doing some general fiddling with the macros in the NAND, Flash, and JFFS2 segments of the code--which has gotten NAND and the generic Flash commands working, but the JFFS2 code seems to have problems. I researched this a bit, and it seems that Samsung has their own solution, RFS, which they say should used with NAND chips with page sizes more than 512 bytes (ours is 2048.) We are currently contacting the board manufacturer to see about receiving the RFS code for U-Boot and Linux, but if it ends up that we cannot receive this code, then I would like to ask if anyone knows whether the current U-Boot JFFS2 code should be able to work with big block NAND (and I just need to fiddle with it more), or if I will need to essentially create my own JFFS2 handler? I don't currently have an adequate understanding of JFFS2 or flash memory to determine what possible issues there are between different chip formats. Thank you, Chris Williams
