This patch reworks the patch submitted on May 6, 2005: Ref: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=11674386 This patch (cfi_flash.patch.tolunay) is prepared against current CVS version + Peter Pearse Patch dated March 15, 2005. Attached a patch that adds support for the 16-bit wide bus of System ACE CF besides the existing support for the 8-bit wide bus. The patch also sets the FORCECFGMODE bit in the control register when the System ACE CF configuration controller is reset before reading a sector. Without this bit set System ACE CF reconfigures an FPGA if the CFGMODE pin is active whenever a sector is read. Hi, I'm trying to port u-boot-1.1.3 to EP852 board with mpc852T processor.The kernel im using is linuxppc 2.4.21. The board is working fine with u-boot , the problem is that kernel is not starting. I've made sure that the bd_info structure is same in kernel and u-boot. The clocks_in_mhz variable is not set and the IMMR value in kernel and u-boot matches. I run the test_burst program in u-boot and it worked fine.( so no prob with RAM) What else am i doing wrong?? When i set the value of CFG_SCCR to SCCR_COM00 | SCCR_DFSYNC00 | SCCR_DFBRG00 | SCCR_DFNL000 | SCCR_DFNH000 | SCCR_DFLCD000 | SCCR_DFALCD00 u-boot works at CONFIG_BAUDRATE / 4 speed i.e if CONFIG_BAUDRATE = 9600 i've to set minicom/kermit to 2400 . Now when i set CFG_SCCR to 0x03020800 ( the value given by embedded planet config file) the baud rate works fine but the FEC doesnt work properly. It works __VERY__ slowly, i get errors in fec_recv() ( enabling ET_DEBUG) How do I make both ( FEC and baudrate ) work fine and also is this related to kernel not booting? Hi, After reading many board/*/flash.c and writing customer board driver for one of my customer, I think the current flash interface can be improved. I suggest adding a subdir $(TOPDIR)/include/flash/ and putting flash chip information here. When you use some kinds of flash chips, just include relevant header files. If we go further, many information in $(TOPDIR)/include/flash.h can be put into these header files. And, even flash operation (non-CFI) sample code can be put into $(TOPDIR)/contrib/flash/. Hi Wolfgang Denk, Since only difference between ds1339 and ds1337 is Trickle Charge register from software view, and currently u-boot doesn't use this register, can I send a doc & code patch which adds support for CONFIG_RTC_DS1339, or send a doc patch which states that CONFIG_RTC_DS1337 is for DS1337/1339? As in Embedded Planet EP405 board, ppc405GPr processor support high boot only, when Power On or reset, the processor starts at 0xfffffffc and the code is executed from flash/rom. There is usually a branch instruction(such as: ba target) in 0xfffffffc so that it can jump to the target. For example, if i set TEXT_BASE=0xfff80000 in u-boot,it means the instruction "ba 0xfff80000" is in 0xfffffffc. My questions are follow: 1 where can i find the branch instruction "ba 0xfff80000" in u-boot-1.1.3 code? it seems it is not in start.s 2 As we know, before u-boot is written to flash the first time, there is nothing in flash. when we write u-boot in flash from addr 0xfff80000, how is the branch instruction written to addr 0xfffffffc which is not neigbour to u-boot code body? In tftp i have the same thing, but if i change the code so to ignore timeout it begins the file transfer. Within this transfer, at some point in time, the board sends a packet with strange IP and MAC addresses. From this point on the transfer speed decreases until there is a connection error. Anyone have an idea of it might be? The board is based on a mpc8247, running at 100MHz (i have configured CFG_HZ 1000). My guess is that it might be something with my timers configuration. While 'make all' arm-linux-gcc stoped at "unknown option -mabi=apcs-gnu", within /lib_generic subfolder. (This option looks like one for assembler, but not literally - 3.1 offers other options...) Who defines this option? Does redefinition make sense?

Hi, I am using an ARM Integrator/CP board with u-boot 1.1.3. It's working well except that the ethernet interface never comes up. I don't see the link lights and a "dhcp" command results in: SMC91111: PHY auto-negotiate timed out *** ERROR: ethaddr is not set properly!! I compiled u-boot using the integrator cp config file. I have modified it somewhat to include some extra commands but the network portion remains the same. Also, the docs for the board state that the board has a LAN91C111 ethernet chip. Anyone encontered this issue? I did not find anything in list archives. Regards, umar

Hello! I have seen that the sdram initiation on Yosemite board has been changed lately. We have some memory problems on our custom board based on Bamboo. We are using the Yosemite initdram function but added a call to spd_sdram(). This helped a bit, but not all the way. What are the benefits of using the sdram_tr1_set() instead of the alredy existing spd_sdram()? Hi, I just finished upgrading our AT91RM9200-EK to U-Boot 1.1.4. I defined CONFIG_SKIP_LOWLEVEL_INIT since I was only upgrading the second stage of Atmel's two-stage bootloader process. I had to make changes to two files as shown in the attached patch. The first was to #ifndef out the cpu_init_critical function in cpu/arm920t/start.S to avoid a undefined reference to lowlevel_init. The second was to change two #ifdef statements to #ifndef in include/configs/at91rm9200dk.h as in both cases the else-part matches the configuration used by Atmel. I have seen in the code that Uboot enables ethernet rs232 and sdram using bcsr. How can I enable RS232, ethernet and sdram without bcsr? Is there a somehow standard way to procede? Hi Stefan. Thanks for your answer. I though NPe405H was supported by u-boot. Anyway. Yes, I enable the pci debug, I saw the Pci Autoconfig messages (Mem and I/O adrresses), but when u-boot scan the bus, to find any device, it stops in those functions. I am using BDI2000, but unfortunatelly I do not have the bdiGDB package. We will buy it as soon as possible. So I have no way to configure PCI interface by hand. Could you explain me how it is made PCI bus scan? Basically the function pci_hose_read_config_byte(). How it is read the HEADER_TYPE for example, is it made by I2C or data bus, acessing direct processor registers? Regards. Otavio I. Hi everybody. I am having some problems to configure PCI interfcace in the NPe405H processor. Have anyone already ported u-boot to it? Basically, the problem happens when u-boot tries to scan the bus. Hello, I am using MPC8260ADS based customs board. I have configured the memory map in U-Boot as follows SDRAM : 0x00000000 (size=128 MB) FLASH : 0x30000000 (size= 1MB) SRAM : 0xFFF00000 (size 4MB) There are also other components in the board, like FRAMER , DSP, etc. I have not initialized the memory map of those components in U-Boot. I am able to get the U-Boot prompt when run by TRACE23. I have build a default MPC8260ADS kernel, the only changes I have made is in the variable IMAP_ADDR , BCSR_ADDR in arch/ppc/platforms/ads8260.h. I have put those values from the already running U-Boot code. Our TEXT_BASE=0xFFF00000 HRCW value= "0E A2 82 05" I copied uImage to location 0x04000000 and the Load Address=0x00000000 and Entry point=0x00000000. The bootm 0x04000000 gives the o/p "Transferring Control to Linux" and then nothing comes. Where is the wrong? My question is 1. What are the minimum information Linux needs from U-Boot to come up properly? In the Linux source tree we have put some printk statement and found that base address of SDRAM, size, etc are passed correctly to Linux by U-Boot. 2. Is the info passed from U-Boot is sufficient enough to make the kernel up? 3. If not, where should I concentrate in Linux tree? Pls help.
