Hi, I am porting U-boot to Intrinsyc cerfboard(PXA250 based). The toolchain used is 2.95.3. U-boot hangs just after relocating to RAM and there is no console output. Is there any later stable toolchain available to build u-boot. Thanks, Wolfgang. I looked up the man page for "objcopy". But the explanation is far more enough than what I need. So I am trying to find other sources. I check the site you gave me too. But it seems that some of the flags don't appear in the list, such as "alloc", "load", "rom" etc. I will try to find some other sites. If any of you happen to know any sites explaining the set-section-flag of objcopy, please let me know. I would appreciate your help! Hello, we have some troubles with one of our 3rd party suppliers. We are using U-boot and would like to run some of the 3rd party code from U-boot. Could --> 5.12. U-Boot Standalone Applications U-Boot allows to dynamically load and run "standalone" applications, which can use some resources of U-Boot like console I/O functions, memory allocation or interrupt services. be used to avoid GPL??? Hello, I am working on the ML300 board of Xilinx. I successed to use, U-boot (I put it in an ace file), linux kernel and the distribution (put on the SDRAM with serial port) I would like to put my kernel and my distribition images on the microdrive, and I want that the U-boot uncompress the kernel and distribution images from the microdrive. My PC card adapter is on a PC working on Windows. Thanks Abdelmajid

[U-Boot-Users] still having issues with timer exception

hello, the subject line sums it all... There's no way I can get the timer working properly. Again, this is an unsupported board yet with a ppc405 core. I am using a debugger from windriver. The pit register remains with the value 0 although the tcr is set to 04400000 (reload) and the instruction mtpit(61a80) is called... Oh and btw, I took the walnut board as a model to port u-boot on my board and there's something I don't understand quite well in the flash.c file: function flash_erase. Why are interrupts disabled? And how can the wait_for_DQ7 function called by flash_erase could possibly work with disabled interrupts (how could the timeout be reached?)? regards, François-Xavier SEINGIER

Hi people, Thanks for the help so far, I have successfully managed to patch and compile U-Boot for a Sharp LH7A400 board. Below is a listing of files from my system (bin, srec, etc) -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 91692 Jun 18 09:22 u-boot.bin -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 275178 Jun 18 09:22 u-boot.srec I am unable to load and run the image on the board. I tried sending the srec file over a serial connection to the board and them jumping to that image and that failed. I then tried to load the .bin file as an elf file and the transfer failed as well. This because I've used as reference another "ARM family" code for my port and, in fact, it was miss there too (at that time I've port u-boot version 1.0.2). Fortunately (or should I say "unfortunately"!?) I've no problem with bss (at least until now), I suppose because my global variable are initialized at runtime too. I will soon fix this problem, probably when we will port the newer version of u-boot to our platform. Thanks to you and to Markus for pointing it out! Guys, If you are keeping score on the 8540/8560 ADS front, I'd like to give you a minor update from the Freescale Perspective. I have just posted a new patch that should clean up and finish off my patches from 11-May-2004, 1-June-2004, and 3-June-2004 that were partially applied by Wolfgang a week ago or so. I have patches in hand for some DDR initialization bugs that I will verify and then submit to the list as well. Expect to see that mid next week or so. I will clean a -Wall nit, and fix a minor PCI board/cpu issue as well. Dan, I believe that the config file for the stxgp3 will need to have CONFIG_MPC85XX_TSEC1 and CONFIG_MPC85XX_TSEC2 #define'd now too if those are wanted. Compare with MPC8540ADS.h as needed. If you want me to take a whack at updating the stxgp3.h, I am will to; just let me know. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with these updates! Thanks, jdl
