u-boot runs great from sdram. When I change the text base to 0xffc00400 and undefined MONITOR_IS_IN_RAM, My environment is set up between 0xffc02000 and 0xffc03fff I get the following link command error. u-boot.lds:143 cannot move location counter backwards (from ffc03f72 to ffc02400) What am I doing wrong? What does it mean?

[U-Boot-Users] u-boot for 5272 and 5407

Is anyone currently running or working on u-boot with the 5272 or 5407? We are trying to bring it up on a working 5272 first. We then plan to port it to a 5407. Though it compiles fine, the code is breaking and we have been working through the code with debug messages. Which gnu compiler version are we expected to be using for the latest CVS'd u-boot? If anyone would be interested in bumping heads through this process let me know. Cheers, Robert Williams

Hi - I am saving my environment to flash and relocating it from flash to ram when uboot starts. After I burn the flash, and run uboot, I noticed that the environment that was relocated had garbage data in it. I need to figure out if my build is incorrect, and if not, how can I define a buffer in uboot that is located at a fixed address, and is intialized to all zeros

Hello - the docs for uboot scripting do not seem to be available at: http://www.denx.de/twiki/bin/view/DULG/UBootScripts I want to set some uboot env variables and then run two uboot commands. I know how to write the script, however I need to know what steps to take to make the script readable by uboot, and then how do I execute the script. Also - off topic - how can I set a buffer in flash at a specified address to all zeros? I want a certain buffer to be zeroed out when uboot is flashed - so the buffer (in this case would be in flash, and when relocated - also be in ram - I know how to declare a static, and to initialize a buffer, however I can't figure out how to locate that buffer at a specific address using either preprocessor commands, or linker script commands. oh - and I want to do this in c - not assembly. thnaks

[U-Boot-Users] How does u-boot inform the linux kernel of a JFFS2 root filesyst em?

Hello everybody, I'm not sure whether I am asking this question to the right group, but I have found people to be very helpfull here. I have had u-boot working well on our target for quite a while now, and I have turned my attention to providing a JFFS2 partition on our flash. I would like to know how I can boot from a single JFFS2 partition which contains both the kernel image and the filesystem. I can use fsload to load the kernel image into ram, once in ram I can launch the kernel using bootm <address of kernel image>. Previously I had been using a ramdisk arrangement which I configured by launching the kernel with a bootm <address of kernel image> <address of ramdisk> and informing the kernel within the bootargs of root=/dev/ram, how should I pass the location of the root filesystem to the kernel? Hi, I am in the process preparing a patch for our new board.I have successfully logged on and performed a checkout of the head into directory u-boot. I now want to copy my changes to this directory and generate a patch. How do I tell CVS to do a diff against the remote database? If I enter diff -purN even while logged into remote database it gives me differences against my local system Is there some command option that you can give to diff to tell it to do a difference against source forges database? Am I forced to check my new u-boot directory into my local CVS and add the changes do a diff on my local machine?
