Hello, I have U-boot-1.0.2 working on our custom board and the FCC1 is working fine, I can TFTP the linux Kernel and start it. Now, here comes a problem I do not really understand. U-boot has configured the FCC fine. Why does Linux need to re-configure it, when it tries to do that by means of MII & MDIO it does not find any PHY...and I lose the ethernet port. I am using MontaVista 3.1 and the 8260ADS LSP as a base for our Linux port. Thanks in advance for your help! Cheers // Matias

[U-Boot-Users] Support POST on MPC824x_based board

Dear all: I make our MPC824x_based board support POST, but not support watchdog POST. I add a item "unsigned long post_word" in struct global_data in include/asm-ppc/global_data.h instead of the macro CPM_POST_WORD_ADDR such as in function post_word_load() in file cpu/mpc8260/commproc.c. Since all items in global_data struct gd_t will be initiated to "0" after reboot, the post_word can't remember whether the watchdog POST has been executed. So, watchdog POST can't be supported. I try to find a free 32 bits register in MPC824x to place the post_word, but I can't find the gold register. :( Now, my poor POST can support Memory,CPU,I2C,RTC. I also added the Cache,UART to the POST list, but I still have no chance to debug my codes of Cache and UART POST in our board (our board is being used to debug linux drivers now.). I'm not sure of my method. Any advice will be welcome, really. Regards, Birkin

u-boot runs great from sdram. When I change the text base to 0xffc00400 and undefined MONITOR_IS_IN_RAM, My environment is set up between 0xffc02000 and 0xffc03fff I get the following link command error. u-boot.lds:143 cannot move location counter backwards (from ffc03f72 to ffc02400) What am I doing wrong? What does it mean?

Is anyone currently running or working on u-boot with the 5272 or 5407? We are trying to bring it up on a working 5272 first. We then plan to port it to a 5407. Though it compiles fine, the code is breaking and we have been working through the code with debug messages. Which gnu compiler version are we expected to be using for the latest CVS'd u-boot? Hi - I am saving my environment to flash and relocating it from flash to ram when uboot starts. After I burn the flash, and run uboot, I noticed that the environment that was relocated had garbage data in it. I need to figure out if my build is incorrect, and if not, how can I define a buffer in uboot that is located at a fixed address, and is intialized to all zeros

I know how to write the script, however I need to know what steps to take to make the script readable by uboot, and then how do I execute the script. Also - off topic - how can I set a buffer in flash at a specified address to all zeros? I want a certain buffer to be zeroed out when uboot is flashed - so the buffer (in this case would be in flash, and when relocated - also be in ram - I know how to declare a static, and to initialize a buffer, however I can't figure out how to locate that buffer at a specific address using either preprocessor commands, or linker script commands. oh - and I want to do this in c - not assembly. thnaks

Hello everybody, I'm not sure whether I am asking this question to the right group, but I have found people to be very helpfull here. I have had u-boot working well on our target for quite a while now, and I have turned my attention to providing a JFFS2 partition on our flash. I would like to know how I can boot from a single JFFS2 partition which contains both the kernel image and the filesystem. I can use fsload to load the kernel image into ram, once in ram I can launch the kernel using bootm <address of kernel image>. Previously I had been using a ramdisk arrangement which I configured by launching the kernel with a bootm <address of kernel image> <address of ramdisk> and informing the kernel within the bootargs of root=/dev/ram, how should I pass the location of the root filesystem to the kernel? Hi, I am in the process preparing a patch for our new board.I have successfully logged on and performed a checkout of the head into directory u-boot. I now want to copy my changes to this directory and generate a patch. How do I tell CVS to do a diff against the remote database? If I enter diff -purN even while logged into remote database it gives me differences against my local system Is there some command option that you can give to diff to tell it to do a difference against source forges database? Am I forced to check my new u-boot directory into my local CVS and add the changes do a diff on my local machine? Dear all: My board is based on MPC8241. I defined CONFIG_PCI_PNP to support PCI Bus by PNP. Now I want to have POST function for devices on PCI Bus, but I'm not sure about whether the function pci_init() has done the POST work. I think the pci_init() hasn't done the POST work, am I right? Birkin

My board has 2 x E28F128J3A150 Intel Strata flash devices at 0x08000000 and a seperate 1Mbyte AMD flash (containing u-boot) at 0x00000000. How do I configure u-boot to identify all of my flash devices? Does u-boot use CFI to detect flash devices? I want to use jffs2 root file system on Strata flash If u-boot is unaware of the other (i.e.Strata) flash will that affect the kernel using jffs2 and mtd subsystem? Hi everybody, The attached patch fixes the FEC problems on my Lite5200 board. The network is working without any problems at 10 and 100Mb. The auto-negociation works too. If CONFIG_FEC_10MBIT is defined, the FEC works at 10Mb with Half-Duplex. If CONFIG_FEC_10MBIT is undefined, the MII reads its configuration from hardware and uses the auto-negociation for determining network speed. The patch undefines CONFIG_FEC_10MBIT for the Lite5200.
