[U-Boot-Users] Can I load u-boot to my board?

The board on my hand is SBC8260 from EST corp. The JTAG comes with this board is VisionProbe II from WindRiver. The board has been used for VxWorks. I search the web and can not find any tech inforamtion about this JTAG. No support information on the web for linux usage too. Hello, I've stuck with the new kernel that I've downloaded from www.kernel.org . I'm using the TQM860L board with eldk3 working on it. I've downloaded the 2.6.9-rc3 kernel and tried to build with make TQM860L_defconfig make uImage commands. I also set the Makefile for "CROSS_COMPILE = ppc_8xx-" and "PLATFORM=ppc" switches But the result is so many errors in uart related ( arch/ppc/8xx_io/uart.c ) file. like 233 'info' undeclared ( first use in this function ) 234 'name' undeclared ( first use in this function ) vs. My question is why this kernel is not built with the default settings. What am I doing wrong ? Thank you. Hello all, I'm trying to debug some changes that I've done to U-Boot. My first problem is that for some reason I keep getting what I believe to be a Machine Check Exception as the code is jumping to 0x200 (set in ivor1). In _start during the setup of the Stack in ISRAM, there are two instructions, the second of which according to the comment terminates the call chain. I have included the code snippet below. lis r1,CFG_INIT_RAM_ADDR@h ori r1,r1,CFG_INIT_SP_OFFSET@l li r0,0 stwu r0,-4(r1) stwu r0,-4(r1) /* Terminate call chain */ The first stwu r0,-4(r1) succeeds but the second one causes a Machine Check Exception to occur. r0 = 0, and r1 = 0xC0001F80 prior to the instruction being ran. Shouldn't CFG_INIT_RAM_ADDR be 0x80000000 as 0xC0000000 will get mapped to 0x80000000 will it not? I have tried this code with CFG_INIT_RAM_ADDR as 0xC0000000 (original) and 0x80000000 but both have the same result. The documentation for the 440GP states that this is caused by either a timeout or error on the reading or writing of data or instructions on the PLB Interface. I haven't changed any of the timing information for the Peripherals as I was given an configuration for the Ebony board from USI (Abatron Dealer) so that should be fine. My other problem is that occasionally (using same binaries and debugging steps) I get a program check as soon as MSR[ME] and MSR[CE] are enabled at the beginning of _start. My last question is, that unless maybe I'm misunderstanding how the TLB is setup, no interrupt vectors for exceptions will be loaded at the addresses at which the Machine Check Exception is occuring at. I have included my understanding of the mapping of addresses below. Why is MSR[ME] enabled if there is no vector setup to handle it? I have done the following changes to the Ebony platform: 1. Addresses have been changed. Entry point = 0x3000 TEXT_BASE = 0x00004000 2. TLB setup has been removed (our platform should do entire TLB Setup.) and moved into the Abatron configuration file (section below) 3. board/ebony/ebony.c no longers sets up SDRAM. Hi all, I have bult the bootloader using arm-unknwon-linux-gnu-gcc. gcc version is 3.4.2 and glibc version is 2.3.3. The toolchain was built by using crosstool-0.28-rc37. I am building the bootloader for armv5te architecture. I have the processor arm1022e. Now when i am trying to run the bootloader for integratorap board it is giving a runtime error : undefined instruction. Anybody can throw some light on this problem. But i do not understand the gunzip api: gunzip ((void *)ntohl(hdr->ih_load), unc_len, (uchar *)data, (int *)&len) In partcular i would like to know: 1. [U-Boot-Users] Univesal bootloader in 2 stages

Hi all, I understand that uboot works in 2 stages, one before RAM is initialized and the other after RAM is initialized. But my requirement is, I would like to load the First stage of uboot into Flash, then get the second stage of the boot loader thro' a fast Ethernet(This means that I require a Ethernet driver to run from Flash). In addition I would also like to start a Flash File system in first stage itself. Here's a summary Uboot -- I stage [Running from Flash] CPU setup. Ethernet driver, support for TFTP. Flash driver. Flash file system. Uboot - IIstage [Running from RAM] Other board initializations Device initializations CLI and booting the kernel image. Would like to know whether the above split up of Uboot is feasible? Thanks for all your time. CPU will be mostly powerquicc II processor and the board is a customized board. This should be handled in include/configs/MPC8260ADS.h where the HRCW is defined. I don't know if it is practical to define all the combinations since I don't know what all the combinations are -- the boards may or may not have L2 cache (mine doesn't), on my board the PHY IRQ is 3 (unless 60x bus parity is disabled in which case it is 7), etc. The question is whether we can #define our way out of these configuration differences or if we will have to accept that people with these board will have to review and change their HRCW definition. I propose you figure out what your HRCW should be, with some notes in terms of how your board is configured vs. what it can be configured for. I'll do the same with my PQ2FADS-ZU board. This will probably be managable and we can send a patch to Wolfgang. If and when others work with different boards, they can extend what we start, assuming it stays reasonable.
