Hi all, I'm working on an mcf5272 based board that has 32MB of Flash arranged in uniform sectors of 64KB and 16MB of SDRAM. I've managed to get u-boot to start from Flash and successfully relocate to SDRAM. i ported uboot-1.0.0 with success on my board , it works fine ( i think ) i can download kernel image and no problem with mtest but when i enter "bootm" "Uncompressing kernel...OK" and no more message but i tested it with a reference board , uboot-1.0.0 and kernel 2.4.4 from (www.denx.de) on reference board it wokrs find ( i searched mailing-list and found "Uncompress...." problem because of HZ issue or bd_t type error i think that is not my case ) i have no reference board circuit but i tried to designe my board with same momery ( type and size) , just they differs in CPU version ( reference is A.1 1K22A-XC , my board is C.2 6K23A could it cause a problem ? ) i use the same uboot in both boards i have no idea what is wrong ? SW or HW ? give me some ideas or hints thanks in advance

This question is not related to U-boot(reset) in perticular but the 440GX. I did not get a response that answer my question from IBM or AMCC. In the 440GX PCI registers at offset 0xd4, there is the power managemement register. if you write 3 then 0 it should reset the 440GX. However, once Linux or U-boot are booted, this does not work anymore. I have not found what prevent the reset. If you have any clue, please let me know.

There's a timer rollover bug in the u-boot PXA code, fixed by the attached patch. Before this patch, timer events around the edges of the OSTimer rollover would calculate wildly incorrect values for get_timer(foo) where foo!=0. C

Hello, the CFG_ALT_MEMTEST mtest returns a wrong error message in case the data line test fails with the inverted pattern. The "is" and the "should be" values were exchanged. Additionally, the "should be" value was not inverted when printing. This patch fixes this. Hello, this patch adds the option CFG_XLB_PIPELINING to cpu/mpc5xxx/cpu_init.c to enable XLB pipelining. This improves FTP performance and is enabled in IceCube by default. Other MPC5200 boards should benefit from this as well. Included is a patch that improves the detection scheme in platform.S that the omap1510inn build uses to determine whether or not it is running from SDRAM. The result of the detection is used to determine if the SDRAM configuration registers are safe to change. The previous implementation only made a distinction between running from Flash at 0x0 or SDRAM at 0x10000000. This patch allows U-Boot to run from internal SRAM at 0x20000000 as well and still realize that it can safely configure external SDRAM. Attention 1610 Innovator Users/Owners: Please give this patch a try on your boards as well, as it should work exactly the same. Wolfgang, I know you dislike large patches with many changes but I am hoping you will accept this. I've changed the register definitions to be in the style preferred by the armlinux folks. Unfortunately, I changed this locally before consolidating the board config includes and improving the SDRAM configuration handling. So I can't really submit the latter changes seperately without many small incremental patches and large headaches on my end. I will do it if you insist since these changes are quite an improvement for these boards...but it may take a while. Hi there, I just hacked a simple script that converts u-boot.bin into a text file containg processor init code, SynchFlash programming code and U-Boot data in form of so called b-records. Greetings, I have this pet peeve about including local network setup details in target config files. These details should not be hard coded in target config files. They should either be manually enterred at the u-boot command line prompt or obtained via bootp/dhcp. This patch removes local network settings from the mx1ads config file. Also, N.B., that you need to provide your own target unique MAC address (setenv ethaddr) because the MX1ADS board vendor did not provide one for you (shame on them : ). Again, it's a bad idea to hard code ethaddr in the default board config for many reasons. Meanwhile it's trivial to do `setenv ethaddr` and shoot yourself in the foot but then at least you're pulling the trigger yourself. -- Regards, George

Greetings, The attached patches update ARM boards to use manifest constants from mach-types.h when setting bi_arch_number. I've split this change into two patches. The first patch includes the bi_arch_number changes for all ARM boards which either have no disparity between machine numbers/names or I'm otherwise confident that the machine numbers/names are correct. The second patch includes updates for ARM boards which were either never registered or the machine number has changed since the board was first submitted. N.B. Some of the boards in the second patch have "hijacked" the numbers of other ARM machines. (or if you think it is a bug at all). void to_tm(int tim, struct rtc_time * tm) because tim is a signed int, dates past 19Jan2038 03:14:08 show up as 1970 with negative days/hours. (ie. the date of 01jan2039 shows up as 1970-01--24507 (Wednesday) Time: -5:-27:-15) Potential solutions: 1) fix math, so negative years show up as years : dates can be set from 1902 to 2038 : 102 years ago, to 34 years in the future). OR 2) change function to be defined as: void to_tm(unsigned int tim, struct rtc_time * tm) which allows things to work until 2106, with existing math. OR 3) leave it alone, by 2010 everyone will have moved to 64-bit time_t, and things will be OK. OR 4) error if someone tries to set the date past 19Jan2038 03:14:08 (this is what Suse 9.0 does). I never checked to see what happens if I let Linux roll over - I didn't feel like crashing my workstation for test purposes, however, then you still need to do #1 above. I will check it out on an embedded target tomorrow. Because this affects so many architectures/boards, I thought I would ask: a) Does anyone care? b) What is the preferred method to fix? I'm currently working on ixp425 and by searching on the net I found a source code named JflashMM. This code seems to work in conjuction with a .dat (or .txt) file which contains the board configuration (only for pxa250). Anybody has already use this program over the ixp425 development platform? Hi, I'd like to mask serial console totally for system deployment. When I set the console output by '#define CONFIG_8xx_CONS_NONE 1' and made a LCD image, I got the following compiling errors. What should I do next to disable serial console completely? Yeah, README mentions it a little but not enough, I am afraid. I think there should be a switch in <board.h> to disable the serial console simply. Hi, I reworked my previous proposal for common framebuffer interface on PXA and MPC8xx (other platforms should find it usefull too). There are some differences in contrast to patch I posted on 08.08.2004. They are: o got rid of two extra header files (pxafb.h and mpc823fb.h) introduced earlier o all common stuff is in include/lcd.h and common/lcd.c o CPU dependent stuff remains in cpu/mpc8xx/lcd.c and cpu/pxa/pxafb.c See my previous post for more details. Guys, I'd like to get your opinion on a proposed change to a few files that handle some aspects of the various enetaddr fields as found in asm-ppc/u-boot.h, common/cmd_bdinfo.c and lib_ppc/board.c. In particular, I'd like to propose a shift from having these fields be present when certain boards are #defined to having these fields be present when CONFIG_ETH1ADDR symbols are defined. So, don't take the following as a literal patch. It is just some cut-n-paste diffs to show what I mean. There are only a few boards for which this might make a difference. I'm the bit swizzler for most of them (MPC85xxXDS), but the others include the PN62, the PPCCHAMEONEVB, the 440GX, the GT_6426x. SXNI855T, SVM_SC8xx and possibly the DB64360, DB64460, CATcenter, and OCOTEA boards. The latter define CONFIG_ETH1ADDR but don't have their cases include in places like the coomon/cmd_bdinfo.c. I think this sorr of change would make the handling of the ETH1ADDR, ETH2ADDR and ETH3ADDR more consistent across any platform that defines these fields. Opinions? If you buy this, I'll submit a proper patch, of course. my cpu is 440gx, and my board is like ocotea. the u-boot version is 1.1.1. I want to configure the board works at the target mode. I check the register sdr0_sdstp1 is 0x80010980, so i am sure that PAE and PHCE is disabled, and only PISE is enabled. But the register sdr0_xcr, sdr0_xpllc and sdr0_xplld is 0, which is initialized with sdr0_sdstp1. the host cannot recognsie the board as a PCI device.
