Hello, MPC824x locks way0 of the cache while booting for use as initial RAM, but it never unlocks it. The cache remains locked even after booting Linux. Attached patch unlocks cache after relocation to RAM and invalidates locked entries. -- Gleb.

This is really, really, important ... double check this. The default Bluecat hardcodes the IMMR ... it doesn't look for the u-boot parameters ... it just creates its own bd info struct. Does anyone have U-Boot up and running on an Embedded Planet EP862 board? I have U-Boot 0.4.0 working with SDRAM and Flash, but when I compile it to read the environment variables from the EEPROM, it won't boot. Does anyone have this working? I can however get it to boot if I compile it to get its environment variables from flash (it just complains and then loads some defaults). Hi all, I'm looking out for an elegant mechanism to perform an *application file upgradation remotely* in my Linux based Embedded System having JFFS2/FLASH as the storage filesystem. Note , I use u-boot in my system. I intend to do the following. My memory map would consist of the following 1) kernel image1(compressed) 2) kernel image2(compressed) 3) jffs2 application image1(compressed) 4) jffs2 application image2(compressed) 5) jffs2 data image1(un-compressed) [Will be written by the system applications] Running on *1* & either *3* or *4* , I would update *2* , *3* or *4*, after which I indicate the completion in NVRAM flags. I'll rely on my bootloader to read the NVRAM flag to decide to load which kernel image & jffs2 application image. Please comment on the above method. Rupesh

Hi All, I have ported uBoot to our adapted version of the MPC8260ADS board. I just changed the MPC8260ADS board config to suit our needs. The problem that I am having is that any with image that I try to boot ( Yes I have used mkimage) I just get "Bad Magic Number". I cannot think of anything else to try. I cannot get it to recognise any images produced by mkimage at all. I have tried most versions from 0.4.0 through 0.4.7 and all produce the same result. What could I be doing wrong? Hello, attached are several patches against the CVS from 03.09.03 (I wasn't able to check-out the current CVS): - pip405-mip405-update.diff: Some fixes for the boards PIP405 and MIP405 - DOC-fixes.diff: Minor fix for Disk On Chip (UnitSizeFactor=0) - usb-bulk-transfer.diff: Added bulk-only transfer for USB - fat-support.diff: Added FAT support for IDE, SCSI and USB interface This patch changes the behaviour of the fatxx commands, which are only used for the board lubbock so far. I sent it to the maintainer of this board and got his Ok. - fat-fast.diff: increasing the speed of the FAT access by allowing to transfer more than one block per read command. Dear, I am sorry to post the same message repeatedly, because of MIME format. I am using u-boot-0.4.0 + linux-2.4.18-rmk7-swl8 + self-made ramdisk on smdk2410(s3c2410 cpu) board. Kernel is being successfully uncompressed and booted, but ramdisk isn't mounted. My ramdisk is tested well on the same board and kernel without u-boot. Ramdisk seems not to be loaded before uncompressing the kernel. The address where the kernel is being performed is 0x30f00000 and ramdisk's is at 0x30800000. System logs are as follows. Dear, I am sorry to post the same message twice, because of illegible subject. I am using u-boot-0.4.0 + linux-2.4.18-rmk7-swl8 + self-made ramdisk on smdk2410(s3c2410 cpu) board. Kernel is being successfully uncompressed and booted, but ramdisk isn't mounted. My ramdisk is tested well on the same board and kernel without u-boot. Hello, I have a lubbock development board and a BDI2000 jtag debuggger. I would like to debug the boot process before the relocate of the boot code. My steps to debug the booter: o I've modified the config.mk file to enable the debug options DBGFLAGS = -g -DDEBUG. ( I haven't a u-boot.lds.debug for my board (lubbock). Hi folks, I have read some source code and have a rough understanding of the startup sequence of uboot.Correcet me if I am wrong. Now,take uboot on arm7 as example: in cpu/arm7/start.S: when reset,CPU starts from the reset entry. the reset routine first init CPU to SVC mode; then relocate itself into RAM and after that execute from start_armboot() in lib_arm/board.c in start_arboot(),all the init work done here mainly in init_sequence[]. according to README in the toplevel in the uboot source tree, " In your board directory, you will need at least the "Makefile", a "<board>.c", "flash.c" and "u- boot.lds"." Does it means in my <board>.c ,flash.c, I just need to provide the functions needed by init_sequence[]? BTW: how to understand u-boot.lds file?

Differences between 8260 and 8270 do not justify creating a separate CPU directory. In fact, all the differences result in some 10-20 lines of code, so look at cpu/mpc8260. Use `grep' to find HiP7 and you'll see the changes I made to support 8270/75/80. The same is true for PQ2FADS. I ported U-Boot to this board but since it's very similar to older MPC8260ADS I modified existing port to support all Motorola evaluation boards (MPC8260ADS/MPC8266ADS/PQ2FADS). Some differences are handled by #ifdefs. Cloning an existing port and changing ten lines to support new board as it's done in many cases creates maintenance nightmare. So the right place to look is board/mpc8260ads. BTW, I think it's mentioned in README. I guess the PPC8260 is pretty close to the PPC8270, perhaps I can use that as my guiding principle im my coming efforts? P.S.
