Hi Wolfgang, hi u-boot and uclinux list members, during the hollydays, i took myself some time to do most of the cleanups necessary for the u-boot coldfire port to be added to the CVS tree. I think that the attached patch now technically complies, but there are still the copyright issues for the following files: include/asm-m68k/m5282.h include/asm-m68k/mcfuart.h include/asm-m68k/mcftimer.h include/asm-m68k/fec.h BTW.: as fec.h derived from 8xx_immap.h and that file doesn't provide a GPL or other open source header, we may have a new copyright issue with that file as well (include/asm-ppc/8xx_immap.h). For details on the patch, please have a look at my comments for each of your comments. below. The patch is against the u-boot CVS tree dated 27th of December (u-boot 1.0.1). I successfully tested the bootloader with an M5272C3. As i don't have a M5272EVB on hand, i don't know if that one will work, but at least it compiles. doc/README.coldfire is not yet updated for seperated pre-loader and bdm utilites. Neither i have set up a download facility for these seperate packages. [U-Boot-Users] [PATCH] pass custom data to Linux

Hi, the attached patch defines a new config option CONFIG_CUSTOM_TAGS for ARM targets. Defining this option causes do_bootm_linux() to call the function setup_custom_tags(), which should be supplied from the board-specific stuff. Specifically, I need to pass the board revision and serial number to the Linux kernel, and I'd like to use the standard method of passing tagged parameters. For my purpose, ATAG_SERIAL and ATAG_REVISION are already defined (and supported by the kernel). CHANGELOG: add config option CONFIG_CUSTOM_TAGS Cheers Anders

The file u-boot.lds for the dbau1x00 boards contains the following line at the top: OUTPUT_FORMAT("elf32-tradbigmips", "elf32-tradbigmips", "elf32-tradbigmips") but to get the board to compile for little endian the line needs to be changed to: OUTPUT_FORMAT("elf32-tradlittlemips", "elf32-tradlittlemips", "elf32-tradlittlemips") but #ifdef doesn't seem to work in this file. What I came up with was acutally a hack in the top level config.mk file to use a different file I called u-boot-l.lds. Is there a better way? Ed Okerson

Attached is a patch for the memsetup.S for the au1x00 family of processors. The previous version had only been tested on the AU1000 in big endian mode, this has been tested on the AU1000 and AU1500 in both big and little endian modes. Ed Okerson

Attached is an patch to cmd_ide.c that fixes endian issues for the AU1x00 family of processors. Previously these processors could only read Compact Flash cards (and perhaps other IDE devices) if the drive was byte swapped from what is written by a standard PC. With this patch they can now read them without the bytes needing to be swapped. Ed Okerson

I am porting U-Boot over to a new product and am having some difficulty getting U-Boot to load successfully. I have placed our board on a logic analyzer and found (based on System.map) that U-Boot seems to crash in cpu/mpc8xx/cpu_init.c in function cpu_init_f at lines: memctl->memc_br0 = CFG_BR0_PRELIM; memctl->memc_or0 = CFG_OR0_PRELIM; Here is my board configuration: CPU: MPC855T FLASH: AMD AM29LV040B (512kB 8-bit on CS0) SDRAM: Micron MT48LC4M32 (16MB 32-bit on CS2) NVRAM: Simtek STK14C88 (32kB 8-bit on CS4) The board is set to have the IMMR come up at 0xFF000000 (on hard reset), and that is what I have CFG_IMMR set to in my board configuration file. Could this be a problem with the placement of the IMMR. I previously had the IMMR at 0x00000000 on hard reset and then moved it to 0xFA200000 with CFG_IMMR, which had the same effect. Or, could this be an issue with my BR0 and OR0 settings? I read something in that file before those two lines above, which talked about CFG_OR0_REMAP, but didn't quite understand it. Should I be using this? Hello all, I'm working on porting u-boot for the Arrow M5282ARB eval board. I'm starting from the M5282EVB board, and have identified the that I need to change the flach.c file and obviously the m5282evb.c file, But what other parts of the code do I need to touch to configure it to the new board? hello, if i enable the minimal configuration and compiled then how much is the size of "u-boot". because i have the bootup flash size is 32K. can i get the u-boot loader file size less than that? Regards Ganapathi C
